Walls are defensible positions. Does it solve everything, no, but it makes one do something more than simply walk across an unguarded "line".

Are you high? Unguarded line?

I live on the border dude. I see border patrol everywhere. Fence everywhere.

In the summertime, the river itself makes in deadly to cross.

What on earth are you talking about? The Canadian border?

You are drawing your conclusion from one section of the border. You do understand that there are many areas not like that, correct?

And then he wants to divert money away form things actually working for it? Puhleeze. The problem isn't so much people coming in now, it's what do we do with the ones that are already here illegally.

Uh huh. Well, some of us have seen this movie before. Reagan is my favorite president, but he blew the amnesty thing. We need the wall. I mean, immigration has slowed---lbut doese anyone really think that means it will never be an issue again. C'mon man---your a smart guy. You know better.

Where we agree (and I think even Trump has come around on this)--is there are places where a physical wall doesnt make sense. A virtual wall is fine there. But, where a physical wall can be done and makes sense--get it built. The last 50 years of history says we are completely incapable of stemming illegal immigration otherwise.

Illegal immigration from the southern border is almost nonexistent since Trump took office. Proof positive that a wall would only mean a huge waste of money.

If you want more security, simply hire more agents.

Yes. And as soon as he leaves it will be an issue again without the wall. We dont need any aircraft carriers this week---does that mean we should we get rid of those too? They are expensive!! C'mon. Think before you type. The problem isnt gone. Its just temporarily under control.

Aircraft carriers are sophisticated and mobile tools of war. You are talking about first century technology.

Using your logic, we might as well build catapults too.

Think before you post. You are beginning to sound like Trump.

I did think. The long and short of your tortured response is "We might in fact need our carriers in the future." The wall is no different. It is a long overdue piece of infrastructure that will help secure the border a way that was actually promised by the Democrats during the Reagan administration.

how's that wall working out in almost juarez.....seems to me like it's been pretty damned effective....

here's a linky for the finicky.....

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/02/02/el-...-wall.html

Quote:While Reyes was chief of the El Paso Sector, he enacted the Operation Hold the Line, where all available border patrol agents worked a 20-mile section in El Paso to prevent people from running across the border.

He told Fox News that thanks to the operation illegal crossings in El Paso dropped from 10,000 a day to 500.

No, but I did see that somber looking Trump Hater to his left. Man, that guy never sported a smile not even when they joked.

He must have had a tummy ache. 03-wink

This is the kind of thing he should do more. Would not have hurt to have one of these on the tax bill. R's have the votes, so let them do some kabuki charade things like democrats did with Obamacare. I don't understand whether don't. Heck, do it right and they might pick off a few democrat votes.

For some reason when I heard that Cuellar was going to be there I wasn't surprised that he would try to steal some of that limelight with his angry postulation. He sounded like the Libturds from here.

Ollie,

Do you think Libturds helps the conversation? I guess it’s all about your agenda. Are you trying to convince others you are right who don’t think like you? Do you want confirmation of your ideas from people who already think like you. I came to that conclusion this past weekend. What is my purpose here? Is it to yell and demean people who I am trying to convince that I am right? Or is it to convince people to look at a scenario a different way? Just a thought to ponder. No ill will from my end.

Exactly. It's a force multiplier. And unlike the passive monitoring in place in many areas it actually can act as a deterrent.

It’s funny that I agree with Kaplony and Stink above. I’m convinced the D’s don’t want to give Trump a win. 18nbillion is a drop in the bucket. That was one weekend in the occupation of Iraq. Hell have it be built by union skilled tradesman. There has to be enough patriots left to orotect our southern flank. No? We also have too many Republicans that don’t want the wall either. It’s good for the Chamber of Commerce demographic.

I honestly don't care who builds it as long as the design and implementation plan is fundamentally solid....

hash out the funding first.......then focus on developing a plan to absorb the law abiding/working class DACA folk, review the current immigration laws as needed, and modify as req'd......then simply enforce and cut off funding to states that don't comply until they do....

I don't care if legislating funding for the wall comes first or includes DACA/immigration reform as a package deal...all I care about is focusing on the agenda w/o pork attached....

regardless, if the dems don't wake up and work with the 'phants and president on this, it will get ugly quick....

ol' boy isn't playing the pacifist game on this one.....nor should he....this shite's gone on for too long...

it's time to generate incentive for more able bodied americans in the welfare class the opportunity to work....

since '65, all politicians have done is grow an illegitimate immigration base that offered little in return......demand for labor could have easily been accomplished with the existing base coupled with a solid immigration policy....

but nah....'65 stuck a corn cob up the arse to the uneducated an disadvantaged.....

and people wonder why the wealth gap continues to widen.......**** me....

feel free to shoot holes in DJT's strategy....I'll listen....
