St John's, Georgetown & especially De Paul fixed.

Dayton is awfull close to cincinnati

St. Bonnies is only in the A10 because of its long basketball tradition. They really don't belong in a high mid major conference.

The AAC is the life raft for the non-P5 basketball school.

None of those bb only conferences save the Big East have a TV deal worth anything.

Wichita was smart for jumping for the AAC will always have a TV deal.

Bonaquitter is only in the A10 because Canisius denied admission to Bob Lanier. The A10 should have kicked out Bonaquitter when they had the chance.

If St. Bonaventure has a long basketball tradition, Houston is a college basketball blueblood. This isn't 1975.

I think you mean because of how long they've been in the conference. Same for Duquesne, La Salle and Fordham. If only they could offload those four onto the MAAC and NEC. The A-10 would then be just a notch below the Big East if they dropped that deadweight.

There's no need for the Big East to expand except to grab legit Catholic schools that could compete, such as Dayton and Saint Louis.

Pretty much beat me to it.

Why are they called Bonaquitters? Either way, I agree that until the last couple of years, St. Bonaventure had been terrible for a long time so it makes no sense why the Big East would invite them.

They probably hadn't really tried to compete in decades, which describes about a quarter of the A-10.

The University at Buffalo's move to Division I coincided with the building of a new arena in downtown Buffalo. To celebrate both, a tournament was held at the beginning of the year featuring the four Western New York Division I schools (UB, Canisius, Niagara and Bonaquitter). UB won the first two tournaments. Bonaquitter found it too difficult to maintain their smugness and sense of superiority after losing to a Division I newbie and refused to take part in the tournament, play in the downtown Buffalo arena or play UB for many years afterward.

Then in 2003, Bonaquitter admitted a JuCo transfer who had only a welding certificate (JuCo transfers have to have an Associate's degree). When it was discovered, Bonaquitter was forced to forfeit all of the games the player played in and was banned from the post-season tournament. There was still a couple of games left in the regular season that the other players refused to play in. Some of those games they refused to play were on the road and cost their conference mates ticket and concession sales revenue.

The A10 debated kicking them out of the conference and made a mistake when they didn't. Bonaquitter is, was and always will be out of its element in the A10. Bonaquitter should be in the MAAC. Of course, they'll never admit that because they think they're better than Canisius and Niagara (and UB) but the reality is they're not.
