It certainly appears that way, but it appeared that way last season around this time. Crawford was playing great, the team looked good, we were winning games and then the collapse happened. I was suprised, atleast until people started posting the Tub's last 10 game records. Seems like there are two things you can count on with the Tub. He is going to finish around .500 in conference and he struggles in the last 10 games of the season.

The last 10 games of the season the Lawsons were one team, the Tigers were a second team and the opposition was a third.

Sorry, but that is as inaccurate as can be. Without the Lawsons things would have been even worse. There is not one shred of evidence that the Lawsons were a problem last season and plenty of evidence that the Tub was a problem. In fact, go look at the Tub's last 10 seasons and tell us what was different last season then the other 10 years... He always falls apart at the end, always.

Well, there is SOME evidence. I broke it down last year after the collapse. The 2 players who had notable changes in their stats after the FL trip fiasco were KJ and Markel. They were also the players who were widely reported to be having issues with each other. Then there were the KJ videos post-season. So there is at least a smidgen of evidence that one of the Lawsons were part of the late season problem.

Ultimately it falls on Tubby. But to think KJ wasn't a problem ignores the facts.

There's just not much talent on the team, and for a second year in a rebuild that's not the end of the world. The issue is there doesn't seem to be much coming in either

Exactly where I am. No doubt the team is getting better - just like most of us thought it would with so many new pieces and with Tubby working them. We've lost 1 we should not have, but we've "stolen" 1-2 also. We've looked terrible a few times, but we've over-performed at others. And the team just guts it out down the stretch most games, and have proven they can pull out the close ones. Regardless of Tubby and staff, you just have to root for these guys. For year 2, normally, it would not be bad...

BUT...There is only one recruit on the horizon. That is not good enough. At this point, we needed more hope.

The Lawsons were the main problem because of dad. Sure, Tubby bears some responsibility, in particular for losing all of the other players. But the collapse was on the Lawsons.

Interesting stat line on Parks:

Juco 27mpg 9 ppg 4 rpg
Div I 18 mpg 6 ppg 3 rpg

.333 points per minute both ways and a little better in rebounding efficiency now than before. And that's with all those games averaged in where everyone (including myself) threw him under the bus as being a bum. My apologies, Mr. Parks. I was wrong. Love that he has that mid-range shot.

It’s no secret I’m not a fan of the Lawsons. But, it is a situation that Tubby should have been able to work out. Honestly, I thought keeping Keelon on staff and giving him a nice raise would have been enough. But, he misjudged his pride.

That said, I’m glad they’re gone. I think they were cancerous to the team. This situation was bound to blow up anyway. When they quit on the team last year, I wanted them gone. So although Tubby didn’t handle this situation great, I’m happy how it worked out.

As for the others, I could care less if they stayed or left. Actually, it’s better that most left. There’s no question Markel would be a starter for this team, but he doesn’t add enough to get us to the tourney. So now the playing time goes for guys that will be back next year. And they desperately need the experience.

I guess we'll just have agree to disagree on the Lawsons. Now, the REST of the transfers I blame him for.

The worse action Tubby took was retaining Saul and Pooh when more competent options existed. It is the single most root cause for the detrimental effects (especially recruiting) experienced to date. Changes must be made.

The Lawsons were great if you like people that mope and play at 65% effort.

That's the way it goes. Floyd Mayweather could kick my butt without even breathing hard no matter how much effort I put into it. Some people put forth a lot of effort, they're just no good at whatever it is.

Look harder. There’s plenty of evidence that the Lawson’s were a problem. Did they just get that bitter a few days after the season ended?

Cool story, but calling two players that averaged 43% of your points and 49% of your rebounds, the "problem" is bizarre to say the least; especially the rebounding part, which is mostly based on effort and especially on the part of Dedric who was going up against much bigger players on a nightly basis.

LOL...look harder? Ok.

INHERITED PLAYERS
Dedric - transfer
KJ - transfer
Markel - transfer
Randall - transfer
Clergeot - transfer
Marshall - transfer
Woodson - transfer
Martin - bitter
Rivers - happy

I guess Rivers is the only player who is not a "problem."

And is he possibly the only one on that list not Memphis good?

I like people who are highly skilled at playing basketball so we can win games and regain relevancy. Bill Self is quite good at signing those people.

It was also inexcusable to not place much effort into retaining Crawford and Woodson and for not pursuing Nick King.

The worse action Tubby took was retaining Saul and Pooh when more competent options existed. It is the single most root cause for the detrimental effects (especially recruiting) experienced to date. Changes must be made.

The Lawsons were great if you like people that mope and play at 65% effort.

That's twice the effort Smith gives as Coach of the TIGERS.

That's the way it goes. Floyd Mayweather could kick my butt without even breathing hard no matter how much effort I put into it. Some people put forth a lot of effort, they're just no good at whatever it is.

I suppose you're right----truth in that statement.
