TN Protects Babies
In 2014 Tennesseans voted in favor of Amendment 1:
Quote:“Nothing in this Constitution secures or protects a right to abortion or requires the funding of an abortion. The people retain the right through their elected state representatives and state senators to enact, amend, or repeal statutes regarding abortion, including, but not limited to, circumstances of pregnancy resulting from rape or incest or when necessary to save the life of the mother.”

Challenges have been mounted. Today, the Sixth Circuit of Appeals voted inanimously 3-0 in favor of Tennesseans and against Planned Parenthood and other pro-death groups.
In 2000 the liberal Tennessee State Supreme Court "discovered" "a broader right to abortion in the state constitution than exists in the U.S. Constitution."
This made TN a destination state for abortions given that practically all limitations were removed and authority was removed from the legislature.
Since then Tennesseans have also ended life-time judicial appointments. Now each judge has to be retained by the voters.

RE: TN Protects Babies
Everyone knows that the 1870 TN constitution writers were pro abortion. Wasn't everyone back then?

RE: TN Protects Babies
In all seriousness, this is why judges need to quit making stuff up. Constitutions shouldn't have to be altered because a judge decides to make chicken salad out of chicken pooo
