That is just stupid on his part...
He would only have one semester left to play unless he graduates early or sits out a 1 1/2 years.
The situation reminds me of the talk about Joe Jackson’s transfer under Pastner.
There is a precedent. The Lawson’s opted to sit out a year rather than play for Tubby. I guess it depends on Martin’s level of dissatisfaction vs the cost to transfer.
No one really sits out a year to only have 1 year left...
No one leaves at Semester to transfer who is a Junior...It is just a bad decision.
Kuran did it after his sophomore season it was a bad decision as well...He gave up an entire year of eligibility
He did it during his soph season.
Transferring mid season is the fools way.
If Kuran had waited until AFTER his sophomore season, he would have sat out the entire next year and had two years eligibility.
Instead, he played one full season at as frosh, played one sophomore semester in Memphis, sat out the second soph semester at Rhode Island, sat out the 1st junior semester at RI, then played the 2nd junior semester and all senior year at RI.
So, he only played three full years.
Pookie transferred in April of his frosh year, sat out a full year and now is in his second full year at Lasalle as a junior. He will get four years of playing time.
You are right I meant to say after first semester sophmore season...That is why he lost the year.
And I don't think Pookie will play 4...
He redshirted his freshman year here...Then lost his transfer year.

People leave programs every year. So we have two malcontents, with an incredibly foolish father, leave the program and that’s a precedent? They were pissed that daddy had to sit in the corner and wanted to stick it to us. After that, I don’t blame anyone for leaving. The program certainly wasn’t going to the NCAA tourney anytime soon after that. I think Markel should have left, not sure I’d go to another weak program, but a fresh start was probably a good thing for him. I’d rather see playing time go to the new players anyway.
Martin had two bad games in a row. He was disappointed. It happens. Not sure if he graduates this year or not, but I think a transfer might make sense in his case too. Really depends if we bring in any good players.
Let me get this straight....you're okay with Martin transferring out at the end of this season, AND you think it's a reflection of him and not what's going on with the coaching staff. Frigging amazing how some of you can rationalize what is happening with our basketball program.
No, you don’t have it straight. I think if he wants to play for a team that has real NCAA tourney chances, it won’t be here next year.
Of course I’d like him to stay, but I’d understand why he’d transfer.

I think that is a real possibility. And if that is reality, combined with the lack of recruits/recruiting, the program would be in serious, serious trouble. It's in a tough spot right now, but imagine if even fielding a team becomes a challenge.
That's why the power/money people will need to really be paying attention right now. Riding with the thought of "well Tubby knows what he's doing and he'll turn it around" could be the most dangerous thought process we've experienced here in the basketball program.
I don’t think you’ll see a mass exodus. I think we’ll see at least one guy leave, it’s just the nature of the game. It happens. It’s harder for the Jucos to leave, since they will lose their last year of eligibility. But some kids get tired of the game, make bad grades, get in trouble, get homesick, etc.
I’m not sure if Martin will graduate early. If so, he has a decision to make.

Agree. I think the biggest issue could be a 14-15 win season and lack of reinforcements coming in for next season.

Why does Martin want to leave? That begs to be examined. Just like the Tarik thing did.
Like the WHO ? thing did ?
Tubby was quoted somewhere (can't remember but I think a CA article a day or do after the game) that he was glad Martin decided to stay. Paraphrased. I'm wondering am I the only one to pick up on this? I know CA readership is down but not that much???
So, the guy that was the person that halfway through the season last year said the Lawson’s and Markel were transferring goes on the radio and says four different sources close to Jeremiah Martin told him he was quitting last week isn’t believable. The guy that covered preps and then the Tigers probably has better sources than people randomly posting on a message board.
Hasn’t the last year taught us that people who are paid to cover sports might actually know more than some here are willing to give them credit for?
Some of you take the whole “If I don’t like the message I assume the messenger is lying” to an extreme.

Tubby killing JM is a joke
Tubby gives JMart the green light to show his stuff. JM would be crazy to consider leaving

Could be he wants to play on Tourney team and doesn't see that happening. If so, I hope for his sake he chooses better than Markel.

110% agree. And 110% w Bench’s post a few back.
And that is what Tubby said, that he’s glad he decided to stay. Think it may have been a slip but others caught that as well. If Martin can grad early there’s no reason for him to stay, that’s assuming there are tournament teams that would take him on. Just like w Crawford last year (minus the tournament team thing)
Also and I’ve said this for a min, don’t be shocked when Nickleberry does transfer. Don’t say that I didn’t call it either. Can’t say anymore than that tho.
And for all the hate the radio guys get (which I don’t understand) they do have solid sources for info. And their info wasn’t just coming from the article that was written.
