You don't win a championship with a stat line like that, unless your Alabama of course and the referees help you out, oh yeah, we also had the officials going against us too who were an utter embarrassment. The NCAA really needs to take a long hard look at the Southland Conference and their participation in the FCS tournament going forward both from a team and officiating standpoint.

Its really a tribute to our special teams and defensive efforts that we were one play away from winning the game. The superior team lost in Frisco, any objective NDSU fan knows that.

Dukes will be back and I look forward to a third straight trip to Frisco, TX on 1/5/19.
I can see why you feel the superior team won. I also would consider myself a fairly objective fan. I would argue that the superior team won...because of the dropped balls, missed field goals, and turnovers. The Bison made plays when they counted...JMU made errors. I would argue you can't take away the things that happened. Last year we could have made plays that would have changed the outcome...but we didn't...because we weren't the superior team. As I have said in other posts...this was by the slimmest of margins. Is this something I would go thumping my chest about? Heck no! We won and I'm grateful because I know what we were up against. This was our toughest championship in the FCS and the others weren't even close to this.

Again...I can see why you feel that way...valid points...I just disagree.

every single NDSU fan I talked to agreed - this was a tight game, and that JMU kinda gave it away (and after beers, there were many chats...). still.... congrats, hope we play next year.

NDSU wasn't the superior team last year, and it wasn't the superior team this year. NDSU was the victor, however, and I'd just leave it at that.

Is that because you said so, or do you have facts to back that up? Fact is, your offense made big mistakes...which wouldn't be a quality of a superior team. When a NDSU receiver broke free for a big play...the NDSU qb hit him in stride...and the receiver caught it...JMU didn't do that. Both offenses played against smothering defenses. NDSU outgained JMU. NDSU held a decent advantage in time of possession. JMU had the better special teams...no question...but they also made a huge error. A superior team doesn't have the errors, turnovers, drops.

For most of the season, JMU was the superior team...but somewhere along the way they lost something...not sure what. NDSU was doing well enough, but after we lost to SDSU we turned it on and were a different team.

RE: Two Point Conversion
the point we are trying to make is that the offensive mistakes we made were very atypical - it was an unusual day for our O, even with all the great pressure you put on our QB (that kid is no choker)

I hear ya. Our offense definitely puts on a lot greater show as well...but credit to your defense. Your qb is definitely a good one...can really extend a play and give receivers a chance to get open.

And again...the line between "superior" is very, very thin. These two programs know how to win. It is amazing that both teams overcame all the injuries that depleted their ranks. It isn't like some teams that rely on one or two stars.

Tale of the tape right here, all good points TransAm, this L is just festering.

A lot of fans are pointing the failure to Brown but it was R. Green who pulled off the receiver. Looks like he thought it was going to the receiver who dropped off and was going to help give some double coverage. He gambled and lost.
