All the BMB people really, really loved him, I hope we get a new guy committed to keeping BMB in good shape!

Time to drop the DCI striding-gliding style and return to old-school high step.

That said, BMB does DCI very, very well, but it is not nearly as entertaining regardless of how well it is done.

Get those knees up and MARCH, baby!

BMB allows everyone to participate. They are not a "try out" band based on athletic/music ability as other schools. UM/MSU don't even allow some members to play every game. They go week to week in many cases and hold tryouts on regular basis. BMB also has arrangement with KVCC transfer program. Many of the BMB are KVCC students, have been for years. You won't see stringent marches in BMB but I still think they hold their own against anyone.

I should clarify on this, it's not "many" KVCC students from my experience (because i know this is a sore point with some people that non-WMU students get to be in the BMB), it's usually a number of 5 or less in any given season.

The info I posted is from Dr Montgomery himself a few years ago when I asked him about his band environment. He is proud to include KVCC students. It is an important feeder for BMB. Also he wasn't interested in stringent tryouts or requiring high step marches, etc. It allowed him to have 300+ members. WMU doesn't have enough students to fill a 300 member under that format. For reference Ohio U does exactly the opposite. The downside is they have only 100 members on the field. It works for them but I'd rather see 300 BMB at MSU/UM or the Cotton Bowl myself.

RE: BMB On hunt for New Director
I don't care if we have 300 or 120 members of BMB or even if a few are "recruits" from KVCC, future BMB members.

At football games I want to see-hear a football band - marching, high energy - contributing to the game day experience.

Much more so than a DJ blaring over PA.

Student musicians supporting student-athletes and entertaining students-alumni who are there to see a college football game.

Agree 100 percent!

Cap the canned music. Let the band BLAST!

Part of the football Saturday game-day experience.

RE: BMB On hunt for New Director
Bill Pease was the director when I was in BMB.

Incredible guy and we played our @$$e$ off for him.

I don’t remember any KVCC kids in the band then and we were a pretty close knit group. I do remember however that a majority of band members were not music majors (myself included) and I thought that was pretty cool.

We could hang with just about anyone (still can). I don’t think a lot of people appreciate just how good of a band program we have at WMU.

I couldn't disagree more. It's not the 70's anymore.

RE: BMB On hunt for New Director
So looks like some unhappy band campers here. I'll put BMB in front of any MAC band.
