RE: Former Temple QB Commits
Interesting to note who was the OC at Temple when he started in 2014; Marcus Satterfield.

RE: Former Temple QB Commits
"Austin is a good player, no question about that, and he had some good players around him. But we have to continue getting good players at every position. Nothing will make Austin better than competition. He needs competition at the quarterback position. We need competition on the offensive line, at wide receiver, at running back. When you have to compete to keep your job, usually you get better."

Here is all his passing attempts in the win Temple had against UMASS. This isnt a highlight film, basically just shows all his passing plays. He looks like he can sling it.

Get the best players we can get, and see what happens. Exciting pick up.

The article shows that the guy didn’t transfer here to sit. Should have a QB battle on our hands.

As I mentioned in another thread, look who recruited him to Temple; Satterfield. Satterfield has the obvious tie to ETSU being a player as well being a grad assistant at UT when Sanders was the OC. This is probably his guy.

I'm not sure about Herink losing his starting gig, but at least we'd have depth for next year. Plus this kid seems to have two years' eligibility left, so we'd be in good shape for 2019.

Imo if Austin Herink doesn't get to start next year I will be pissed for him... He has played behind a terrible offensive line and terrible OC with pretty bad wide receivers while he has been here and still has managed to look pretty good.

This is an interesting problem to have. I also think that Herink played well and is certainly the leader of the team. Will replacing him cause issues with the team? But if we have a better option, how do we not play him?

Also unsure about this rumored offensive coordinator. Wasnt he under investigation for issues at TN Tech before he was fired? Do we want to bring that here?

I think it very debatable whether our wide receivers were “pretty bad”.

If the new head coach, who made his name in being a QB coach, thinks we need help there then maybe that should tell us something. Torbush was all about having a “leader” at that position.

I think he is looking towards the future anyway. He won't have Herink after this year. Similarly at Purdue (my other team), when Jeff Brohm came in he started Elijah Sindelar, a sophomore, over David Blough, a redshirt junior. This split time in different situations, but Blough went down just as he became the true starter. So it's always good to have multiple options at QB.

Sorry, don't agree that the Bucs receivers were bad. IMO, they were, as a group, as good as any other SoCon team. They were not utilized by the OC, especially the TE's. and Backs.

Former Temple QB Commits
Can someone please decipher this for me…

Quote: At Temple, Marchi played under offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield, who left the Philadelphia school to become head coach at Tennessee Tech. Satterfield, a former ETSU wide receiver, has been rumored to be the offensive coordinator at ETSU on new head coach Randy Sanders’ yet-to-be-announced staff.

Edit: NM, I see now. I didn’t realize Satterfield I had held the job at Tennessee Tech, and had been fired.

RE: Former Temple QB Commits
Okay so our wide receivers may not have been pretty bad, but they still weren't fast and dropped enough balls to complain about.

What numbers, 40 yd times, or games can you give evidence of the Buc receivers being slow or dropping more than a couple of passes.
