1990 - UAB traveled to Tampa to play South Florida, playing their third game in five days. Alan Ogg was playing great. In the past three games, he had shot 12 for 12, 8 for 10 and 7 for 11. The South Florida students wore Alan Ogg masks, jeering him relentlessly throughout the game. "I made some friends," he said after the game. "I waved goodbye as a winner." He had 14 points on 5 of 8 shooting as UAB won 83-66.

1996 - The Blazers had travel issues flying to Tulsa to take on the 7-1 Golden Hurricanes. Carlos Williams got in quick foul trouble and the rout was on. UAB lost 70-55.

1997 - Bob Huggins and Cincinnati had lost five of the last six games to UAB and Gene Bartow, even though UAB were the far inferior team during most of the games. On this date in 1997, UAB traveled to Cincinnati to play the #6 ranked Bearcats, and Huggins did not have to face Gene Bartow, who had retired, but his son, Murry. Cincinnati beat UAB 74-54. It was the first time in history that UAB opened the conference season 0-3.

He played five minutes in the first half and scored one point. He did not play in the second half and Coach Murry Bartow stated "he suffered from poor shot selection." Although this was a win, UAB would lose the next four and Murry's fate was sealed.

2003 - UAB handed South Florida their first home loss winning 79-69. Mo Finley scored 28 points, 25 of them in the second half, including 16 of the last 18 points.

2005 - two years later on this date, UAB traveled back to Tampa and beat South Florida 62-61. UAB led by 11 at halftime, but the Bulls came back to make the game close. The game was tied at 61 when Marques Lewis was fouled on a close shot. Lewis missed the first free throw, but made the second and UAB won 61-60.

2011 - in one of the most exciting games in Bartow Arena in the past ten years, UAB beat UTEP 100-97 in triple overtime. Cameron Moore hit a three pointer with two seconds left in the third overtime to avoid a fourth overtime. Moore had 29 points and 14 rebounds. Aaron Johnson had 26 points and 14 assists, tying the record for most assists in a game. Johnson was leading the nation in assists after the game. The game featured 11 lead changes and 13 ties.
