I know we'll probably never win the NCAA tourney but can't we at least be respectable?

It is odd usf is this bad. Probably need some stability with coaching and slowly build up recruiting. No reason for anyone to be ranked in the 300's.

Brian Gregory is going to need a few years. I would hope for some noticeable improvement next season, then a step up to respectability (top 150) in year 3 and hopefully competing for NCAA bids in year 5 and beyond.

See Mick Cronin's first 5 years at Cincinnati below (a complete and utter overhaul) for the blueprint. Hopefully it works for USF, but the fans and university will need to be patient.

2007–08: 13-19 (8-10) CBI First Round
2008–09: 18-14 (8-10)
2009–10: 19–16 (7-11) NIT Second Round
2010–11: 26–9 (11–7) NCAA Round of 32

True. Cronin did a helluva job, but I think it's apples and oranges. It's hard to get kids to buy into a program that has never really achieved anything substantial.

Dunleavy has Tulane at RPI 84 in year two. It doesn't take long to turn a team around.

Umm, a lot of people.

College basketball is 100% coaching. A good coach = a good program. Simple as that.

Especially these days although there is the occasional can't miss one-and-doner that can change it all. Carmelo Anthony comes to mind.
