That whole Baylor staff should have got a 10 year show cause penalty. Even the GAs and Quality Control people.

So much for "if Kiffin leaves, the heir apparent is already here"...

Did the buyout on Kiffin's new contract ever come out?

And you say you don't have an attitude with Florida Atlantic. It's a joke. You never miss an opportunity to be a dbag with the school.
They can still get him back as head coach if they want. It would be a promotion ..

I don't hage an attitude with Florida Atlantic, the conversation about FAU has been "when is Kiffin leaving?" to which everyone that has asked has been told "shut up, we have his replacement already, we'll beat all you 'nothing hillbilly town schools' for years even after Kiffin is gone!"

I'm sorry, when the guy we've been assured not only will be your next head coach, but might actually be the real key to your success in 2017 leaves for another G5 OC job, I'm not going to mince words, or offer false condolences.

As for him coming back as HC, maybe if Kiffin doesn't make it past two more seasons, otherwise you will likely have missed your chance.

But the name calling is endearing as ever...

He has a more direct route to a blue chip P5 OC gig/mid tier P5 HC job from Houston than he did from FAU.

I'm not sure a CUSA coordinator has ever left for a P5 HC job.

It says something if the conference winning OC leaves for a middling AAC team

Not so much when it's a pay raise, even less so to go home to his alma mater, if he was going to Tulane, that would say something.

How badly will this affect FAU?

Hard to say, their long-term replacement plan left before the guy he was supposed to replace.

There are those that suggest Briles was a big part of the success in 2017.

As far as I know the buyout on Kiffin's his new contract has not yet been made public, it's really hard to know how big of a commitment the new contract is for Kiffin without knowing that.

RE: He be gone
Briles was always going to leave after this season. He was the one who requested a single-year deal to begin with. After the Baylor scandal, he was just looking for a program to hire him, which Kiffin did (regardless of his implication at Baylor) because he's a great OC. So I'm thankful for what he brought to our offense this season, but I look forward to see who Kiffin will hire to replace him.

As for Kiffin, I honestly see him staying at Florida Atlantic for at least another 2 years. Chris' show cause penalty lasts until November 2019 and plays a big factor in Lane's decision, in my opinion. And, whenever the details of his new contract are released, I'm sure this will be speculated on ad nauseam.

Also, could Justice possibly make a return as the OL coach? He left for Arizona to join his old coach Rodriguez, but with his recent firing, could he be let out of his contract if he wanted to come back to Florida Atlantic?

Lol just as bad as the Baylor fans who gave Art a standing ovation last year. Football isn’t worth putting your students in danger. No one on those Baylor staffs should be allowed to coach in the NCAA.

Sadly I don’t think the MOB will touch it next year.
