That's what happens when your AD chooses your Assistants. Also, hearing the Lashlee family didn't particularly care for New England. Fitting that the announcement was today during the blizzard.

A guy named Rhett would rather live in Dallas than Storrs. Well that's a shocker

I wonder how Lashlee would perform as a HC. We seriously considered him last year before deciding to hire Shawn Elliott from South Carolina.

I don't know. Is Rhett a popular name in Wichita?

No idea. But he's the most competent football HC we've had since...himself...so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt so long as the notoriously absent Benedict doesn't choose for him again.

Seriously though... Where has Benedict been the past few weeks while the Athletic Department is imploding?

What a sh*tsh*w.

If I remember correctly, Rhett didn't have a lot of choices as it was. He had ridden the Malzahn train as far as it was going to take him, and needed to prove he could do this on his own if he was going to be a head coach. Malzahn sort of heavily encouraged him to go his own way, and he was sort of left taking whatever OC job he could get.

It's got to be Frustrating for him. If Malzahn had lasted maybe one more year at Arkansas State, Rhett probably would have replaced him as Head coach here, but as it was our AD thought he was too young to be a head coach, and he ended up back at Auburn.

The best way to look at how much his stock has dropped is looking at the South Alabama job. Two years ago he probably would have been top of the list for that position, now he was barely even considered a candidate.

But you gave to understand that it really stings to see him leave. He completely changed our offense. Now we will have a bad Defense and Offense... we are usually a least decent a one of them. Next season is gonna be ugly if randy doesn't figure something out

I'm thinking Todd Graham is looking for employment. He was our OC for one season.
