So I have the Liberty Bowl on while I'm cleaning the house and I keep hearing Western Michigan's fight song.

Not the exact same, but very similar to be sure. Western Kentucky and SE Missouri State both have Ohio's while South Dakota State and U of Chicago have Miami's if I recall correctly.

Speaking of the Liberty Bowl, ESPN just flashed a graphic of the three teams in college football history that had one lost fumble the entire season: BG in 1996, Miami in 1998, and NIU in 2004. Iowa State might be joining us on that list.

Yeah, they are similar. But take the hundreds of fight songs from around the country, and...they're all pretty similar at their core. They're just simple, short marches.

Yep, similarities to be sure. But, as Colin said, your typical college rah-rah fight song doesn't stretch too many boundaries or break new ground. Similar chords, tempos, crescendos, etc.

Montana State and Ohio have both the same fight song and mascot.
