Started off with a 2/3rds majority. Keep a majority by a coin flip. No worries, I'm sure there are a couple of Republican Delagates who'd like an appointment to state government. We will have that majority in short order. BTW, that's how the Republicans flipped the legislature last time, so its fair for us to do the same thing.

I figured that thing would be tied up in litigation until March

It might be tied up soon enough. Another race, where the GOP candidate hung on by 72 votes was in a district where 138 voters in the district had the race left off their ballots. They may have to rerun that race.

Well it could have gone either way. Luck ultimately decided the race. In the future what are the feelings of others about this process? Should the legislatures in states that have this or a similar means of determining winners in a tie revisit this? Should there be a special election to break the tie? It would be an expensive solution and turnout would likely be low. Just wondering what other's thought.

Larry Sabato: VA Dems got a 55-45% majority in all House of Delegates contests combined in Nov. '17. 10% majority=landslide. They will get either 49% or 50% of the actual seats. And Rs will get Speaker's job and all committee chairs, regardless. This is not democracy*

If the situations were reversed how would you feel. That it’s 50/50 is absolutely amazing.

Please, not that silliness again. We are a republic AND a representative democracy. 03-banghead

It may not be very democratic. But again, being we're a representative democracy REPUBLIC, what's the problem.

What is the refusal to recognize the term Democracy or Representative Democracy? I see people playing this silly word game fairly often. It is a false dichotomy.

If we lived in a democracy we'd be under the Hillary regime.

Rerun an election? Doubtful.
