Replaced Dickey with Hall. Dickey was like the glue and will be missed. But Hall is well known throughout the southeast and is a younger, recruiter type. Helps fill the Mississippi recruiting void created by Woodson's departure. Also, allowed us to promote rising star Dillingham - insuring we keep him. Recruiting impact: loss in TX/OK, gain in MS/AL.
Replaced Lanning with Patterson. Sort of the opposite of the situation above. We lose a young recruiter, but gain a lot more experience. The Tigers now have 4 guys coaching D with Coordinator level experience. Recruiting impact: loss in MS/midwest/juco, gain in OK/TX.
Replaced Woodson with Rushing. Recruiter for recruiter. Rushing has less coaching experience but has the NFL pedigree to point towards in recruiting. Recruiting impact: loss in MS, gain in OK/West coast ?
Added Jones in a new position. Recruiter. Recruiting impact: gain in TN.
Also, promoted Silverfield, Dillingham, and Johnson. What about Dillingham? The new OC is just 27 years old. Rising star. Of course it's Norvell's offense, but this speaks bigly for the young Dillingham.
Looks like we did okay with the staff changes. Kudos for boosters/admin coming up with more money for the staff. Now if Arizona would just hire Sumlin or Butchie, I'd feel better.
87 , you called Dillingham a rising star? I would say so! He has gone from GA, to QB -TEs Coach - to Offensive Coordinator in 24 months! Whats up with this guy?

I think Norvell sees some of himself in him. He is confident enough to give a young guy like him a chance. Plus, Norvell is so involved in the offense it provides a nice safety net for a young guy to learn.

Also with him being so young, it can give CMN some measure of continuity at least for 3 years before some one else comes looking.

Lots of movement today with the Memphis coaching staff:
Dan Wolken Verified account @DanWolken
As @PeteThamel just said, Keith Patterson is leaving Memphis after one month to become DC at Utah State.

Promotion to a coordinator instead of being a position coach here.

Yeah, he's got 13 years experience as a DC. He was a steal for us at linebackers. Too good to last.

Those we hire as football coaches do so well, that they only have to say they are coming to Memphis and they get hired away. The time line on coaches staying at Memphis just got much shorter.

Norvell is from Texas...so we can still recruit there and Oklahoma

I thought Norvell was into the Qb's? Maybe with Hall he can do as much as he likes with them now. If Ball stays and the Db's stay 8yds behind the receivers then he might need to skate. I know they had issues with being young but the last couple,3,4 years? That has been some of the softest secondary I have ever seen. Maybe we just need to get a little more speed. But, I liked what I saw in the men just not the method.
