Winter Storm Grayson
Anyone else keeping a leery eye on this?

Just got a travel alert from United that our flight tomorrow is potentially impacted. Looking at forecasts, and TAFs for IAD, it looks like any snowfall should be minimal at IAD, but that does look like one nasty storm coming up the coast.

The way the forecasts are now, IAD should be fine.....but it depends on where your flight is originating. I have been stranded way too many times in the past at an airport that had no weather issues, but my plane was coming from someplace it could not get out of. Might want to check where that flight starts to see if you should be concerned.

Gonna be cold and windy too, but yeah flights will def be impacted. Need to look at where you flight is flying inbound from. Mine is coming from Austin, so should be good barring any wind/cold delays at IAD.

So far so good for anyone travelling out of Richmond. No alerts and no accumulation in the current forecast. ATL also appears to be so far so good.

Our plane is coming from Houston to Nashville to IAD, so barring some bizarre changes, I think we’ll be ok. Guessing United is just being overcautious and issuing the alert so people can change flights with the fee waived.

Kinda wonder what other airports will be impacted along the way though. Glad we have a direct flight, recall some people struggling last year to get there.

Flying out of Philly tomorrow at 12:50 and not feeling great right now. Should be limited snow, but I am more worried about the wind.

Looking into other options as I type.

Glad to leaving for TX tonight!

Last year we spent Friday night in Atl with 100 of our closest JMU fans. Traveling the day before the game was a bad idea.

Safe travels everyone!

I'm hoping for the best tomorrow out of Philly, but my next best option is if my flight is cancelled driving out to Harrisburg and catching a flight from there as they are getting no snow.

RE: Winter Storm Grayson
Just like last year, I have a rental SUV on hold in Atlanta in case we get stuck there. Its a 12 hours drive from there to Frisco, so the go/no-go departure is 11pm on Friday.

I travel through Hartsfield at least 6-8 times a month (Delta guy) and it doesn't matter whether it is spring/summer/fall/winter there are always delays. Hate that I am not on a direct flight out of Richmond Friday afternoon, but since I'm bringing the whole family down I wanted to use Delta points for free flights. Here's hoping it doesn't bite me in the ass...

I get naming hurricanes, but naming a winter storm is silly. I only remember hearing names for winter storms for the last few years. Must be so newer thing by the media to try to sensationalize the weather and drum up ratings..

Naming of Winter Storms is something the Weather Channel does, it is not official.

Just the Weather Channel. The NWS and other weather info sites don't buy into it.

And NBC/Comcast (which owns the Weather Channel).

Yes, naming snow storms like that is extremely stupid and should not be done.
