Feeling old
Was reading a story about Bruce Arians retiring in the Washington Post. He said one of the things that made him wonder what he was missing was Jake turning 40. Think for a second-most of the kids who built the foundation of the program in the Watson Brown era are either 40 or pushing it.

I remember how in the early days we talked about one day we’ll have successful alumni and money would flow because many of us would be successful and have disposable income. Fast forward to the response to the BOT/Watzi apocalypse. Between the broader community and alums like Justin Craft those hopes of our youth came true. Money is flowing. Our program is growing and healthy and our future is bright.

Btw, wouldn’t it be nice to get Coach Arians to be part of some of our camps? Hard to get a bigger name

19 out of the state's 20 largest privately owned companies are in Birmingham. Getting the business community on board was HUGE! Most aren't UAB alums though, although I'm sure plenty of alums helped out too though.

Not only does our sister school benefit from a big increase in revenue from a really way overboard enrollment, it saturates the working environment with these alums compared to numbers of other universities in the state.

Our first couple of basketball teams have to be getting close to 60 now, without thinking too hard on calculating it.

I've got to be honest with you here- I've always been kind of a casual NFL fan, and have really only known who Bruce Arians was since he became a head coach. Until you posted this, I had no idea that he was Jake Arians' father.

I think he had a stint at Alabama maybe if I recall. Also was a coach for the Steelers.

RE: Feeling old
Nothing says "feeling old" like knowing that 2 of your three children are now grandparents themselves. Great grandkids are wonderful, but make you realize your own age.

The ONLY reason I know of him is because he’s Jake’s father

Bama fans are still mad at him for letting Freddie Kitchens throw some pass, when they were trying to run the clock out against AU. Think AU got the ball somehow and scored.& won.
