RE: Tribe in Charleston -- CAA Tourney
Since the CAA went to 10 teams, the number of conference wins required to miss the play-in round at the men's CAA hoops tournament:

2017: 8
2016: 9
2015: 10

RE: Tribe in Charleston -- CAA Tourney
Figure I'd Bump this thread to the top. BTW, it only took 7 wins to avoid the play in round this year(at least for UNCW)

Single game tourney tickets are now on sale. Got some in Section 136 which is right next to the main Tribe section for game 1. I am sure that there will also be plenty of walk up tickets. If I was coming down with only 1 other person, I'd have bought the tournament booklet. But, the other people coming wanted to buy one session at a time which I cannot find fault with.

RE: Tribe in Charleston -- CAA Tourney
I got my ticket book in the mail today. I figured it would be good news since the ticket office called me last week to conform that I only needed one ticket book. I am in the temporary seats they put down for hoops along the court, where the ice starts for hockey.

I thanked my wife for not wanting to come with me.

It is valuable to gauge what the potential seeding might be for who wins the tourney and to see what "experts" think about our program. Also much higher chance of a NIT bid if you are projected to make the dance....Think positive!

I am thinking very positive about this particular team. But, I want no part of projecting anything at this point. We are on any brackets based on having the lowest RPI in the conference, not based on anyone actually thinking we will make it. Plus, it doesn't matter if they do think we will, we have to win in March to get there. As everyone does, I want the Tribe on the actual bracket, not a projected one. Now, advising what we are in the RPI, potential at-large discussions, I am fine with that type of dreaming. If someone in the league goes 16-2 or better, we might have a claim. UNCW had a team to be considered, but not the OOC schedule last year. We had a decent schedule and a decent OOC RPI, but no big wins. ODU and Marshall aren't enough. I don't like the premise at all, but we won't get a fair shake if we get to say 50 in the RPI. The only year we had an argument was 09-10 and we did not get in then with an OOC RPI of 2 at one point. We lost too many games in the conference. We just need to win tonight at Delaware and not be concerned about anything else. 2 Road wins in a row would be a significant accomplishment. UNCW at Towson should be interesting, too. Just too early to dream when we have 16 conference games to go.

DACA - protect the dreamers...

NCAA Tournament a dream, unless we can figure out how to use more than 6-7 players. Play Glover more. Let him be physical and tough on the defensive and offensive end. Give the starters rest in each half. First, we have to beat Towson and that is tough. Not physical enough. Don't play defense and won't let any of the other team members play. Starters need a rest to finish strong. Hoping for good things. Not expecting much if this coaching strategy continues. Go Tribe!

Why not use scalpers? Don’t they have them in Charleston? That’s the way I roll at our tournament at the Honda.

JMU up 50-42 at the under 12 break in the 2nd half. JMU has 4 starters with 3 fouls and Drexel has Lee with 4 fouls, 2 others with 3 fouls and 4 guys with 2 fouls.

Drexel wins to play Charleston tomorrow in the early game. Mojica played 36 minutes and Isabell played 38 with Harper and Williams over 30 minutes each as well and game starts at Noon. Only 18 hours rest.

JMU coach lost his mind with 5 minutes left and the game tied. Never saw him coach his team. Only tried as hard as he could to get a T.

It was pretty badly played all around and terribly refed. Rowe was definitely begging for a technical at the end. Have to wonder if he feels his job in danger.

Elon down 11 at half to Delaware. Would be their 7th loss in a row. Is Matheny gone if they lose?

Hopefully Drexel plays a lot better and at least pushes Charleston hard

JMU missed their last 18 shots of the game. Ouch.

That's not true. They missed 18 in a row but ended that with about a minute left. They made 2 or 3 fgs in the last minute

Thanks for the clarification. I misinterpreted the JMU board talk. No way around it, though, 0-18 isn’t good at any point in a game.

Would be surprised if his job was in danger. Rowe has only had one recruiting class (2nd year with JMU but hired at end of March 2016) and had a couple of players on the all-rookie team. Of their starters today, they had a Sr., 2 Jrs., and 2 Freshmen and their subs were a Sr and 3 freshmen. It is a very young team and you have to give him some time.

No doubt. Both teams struggled mightily shooting. That drought made them shoot slightly worse than Drexel for the game. Hopefully Drexel learned the sightlines now

This has me worried for the Tribe. A team that relies on shooting cannot afford to have an off night because of the unaccustomed sightlines. A good defensive team, on the other hand, does not have to worry about that because the floor dimensions of every court are the same.

Delaware shot 57% though. I didn’t watch the game...maybe they were all layups and dunks

RE: Tribe in Charleston -- CAA Tourney
Plenty of great seats available at both games last night.

I was afraid coach Rowe was going to crush a ref. Lou looks like he could still play and he was really pissed. Really weird officiating in both games.

Elon had one foul with about 8 minutes left in the game, and then had to foul like crazy to get Delaware in to the bonus.

Looking forward to the fun this afternoon. I sure hope our boys show up ready to play.

Coliseum still a nice facility, staff was polite and the beer was cold.

Rusty Bull brewing company is in between I-26 and the coliseum. Stopped in after the second game. Tumbling Monk Porter is outstanding. Just a block from my hotel. Too bad it doesn't open until 1:00 pm today. Nice to be able to walk everywhere.

Go Tribe! Give us another day to dream, Idon't want to go home tomorrow morning.
