I would have never included my MIL in ANY of my vacation plans or even let her know about them. This one sounds like a real pain in the ass.

I would not describe the above situation as being "teacher" related. She is just a horrible person. Id have as little to do with her as possible..much less giving her any input into my damn vacation plans.

I don't think this is a liberal/conservative thing. It's a teacher thing.

I had a teacher back in HS, really nice guy middle of the road type who was our band director.

So one day after morning practice some of us students were playing "if your stuck on a desert island what would you bring". The teacher interjected with this version "Would you bring a DR, Lawyer, or Teacher".

We said "Doctor" and he said "But who would teach you or any kids you had on the island"?

When I answered with the question: "Can you set a broken limb" he just went silent.

Teaching is important, I wish I had the means to retire at 50 and teach, my heart kind of really leans that way, but it's not what teachers think it is.

And at the bottom of my heart I know it was political. My Dad died when he was 53. I’ve had two very very good friends die in their last year of teaching. I just have that feeling it’s going to happen to me. Pisses me off. And it’s all political. You used to have good people on both sides of the aisle they can see injustice for what it is. Nope, since it was done to teachers you guys cheer it on. It’s not right. It’s not.

Mach, let me state this again - a system that tries to pay someone in retirement as many years as they paid them to work doesn't work. It will either bankrupt the state or the state will have to forego spending on infrastructure, etc. to pay 55 year old people to sit on their couch. We live too long in today's world to have 30 and out retirements.

Sorry, you didn't get that golden parachute, but it couldn't go on at the current rate.

He clearly is in a really bad place in his life and needs some love and support.

Agree eric. I and others will join you. It can happen to anyone regardless of political affiliation or life's experience.

RE: The Lib Mindset
Mach, as someone who considers you a friend, and I hope you do consider me as well, I will share a thought publicly.

We disagreed most of the time, but at least you were willing to listen to reason. I think I convinced you of the need of Bismarck and a consumption tax because you were wiling to be open minded. You got off the rails sometimes, most memorably about who was the mother of Sarah Palin's youngest child. But most of the time you were sensible, even if we disagreed.

Since Trump was elected, your posts have taken on a different slant. I've noticed the same thing among a number of my other left-leaning friends. Basically you seem to be making the assumption that Donald Trump is the very devil reincarnated, and therefore any possible transgression on his part is not only believable but absolute fact, with or without evidentiary support.

I would hope that after Trump is gone we can see a return of the reasonable, relatively intelligent, Mach. Those sparring matches were fun. These are not.

So, bored and cruising around.

My gosh, my goodness, how on earth did I miss out entirely on this gem?!?

Pure

Comedy

Gold

I’ve got tears in my eyes.

From the sheer lunacy, full belly laughs, and thanking my lucky stars my in laws are some of my favorite peeps in the world.

Amazing.

This one should be archived as an instant classic.
