Cincinnati. #9 of all time Top 75
This one deserves its own thread.

Cincy at #9 All Time. UConn now at #7. FLAGSHIPS!

WSU barely cracks it at #71. Two spots above Tulsa, and behind nearly every other AAC team.

May as well keep the AP in here too.

UC, UK make top ten in all-time college basketball rankings

The Associated Press released its all-time college basketball rankings, and Kentucky is No. 1.

The AP started ranking teams in 1949, and for the purposes of configuring the all-time rankings, it awarded one point for every week a team was ranked, and two points for every week a team was ranked No. 1.

UK has appeared in 75.37 percent of all polls, being ranked 124 times at No. 1.

Cincinnati checked in at No. 10, Ohio State at No. 12 and Xavier finished at No. 53.

UC has appeared in 35.81 percent of all polls, being ranked 45 times at No. 1.

Below are the top 10 rankings:

1. Kentucky
2. North Carolina
3. Duke
4. UCLA
5. Kansas
6. Indiana
7. Louisville
8. Arizona
9. Syracuse
10. Cincinnati

By virtue of relevance to the sport of college basketball...any fan of any program outside the All Time Top 60 is not permitted entry to this thread.

This thing is incorrect. I came up with 248 for Memphis and this says 20 appearances when we have 26. ESPN did one of these a few years ago starting with 1984 or 85 whenever they went to 64 teams and Memphis was in top 15 or so.

Phew!!! SMU barely made it in at #60! I agree that Cincinnati has the most tradition of any team in our conference. UCONN has had the best run of any program in the country in the last 20 years, but Cincinnati is old money in college basketball.

Well, ultimately, I don’t really care. Anyone that knows anything about college basketball knows we’re an all time top 30 program.

Payday, obviously your WSU itch needs scratching -a lot. I mean a LOT.

Despite all of that great history, most expect WSU to win the AAC in its first season. For your own sake, please re-read that previous sentence a few times.

You obsession, mania, fixation, fascination and preoccupation with little old #71 Wichita is a sight to behold.

Are you sure you are not a Beaker in disguise?

So what have you done for me lately? A lot of first round losses. LOL

Really? Somewhere I read the coaches picked Cincy. But scat. You’re not worthy of this thread.

. . . and everyone else, and I mean everyone, picked WSU. Deep down do you not like the AAC? You keep putting down the top-ranked team and conference favorite. Obviously there is a little bity WuShocker living in that tiny, WSU-obsessed brain of yours.

Best of luck to the Bearcraps in the first round of the NCAA this year!

The biggest flaw in that list is how they don't count NIT championships from before 1975. It used to mean a whole lot more than it does now.

Basically, any NCAA Tournament appearance from before 1960 should be thrown out in favor of their final poll ranking. Back then, going to a postseason tournament was like going to a bowl, especially before they actively tried to crown a national champion. One year, Iowa was top ranked but stayed home because the postseason would have taken place during their academic mid-terms. They had this crazy idea that academics actually mattered over athletic glory. Others stayed home for the same reason while a few stayed home due to fears over public safety due to World War II.

Overall though, the list is fine.

Well that’s Iowa’s fault. The fact is, you had to win your conference title to make the NCAA. The NIT was for the left overs. #5 Bradley missed the Tourney during Cincy’s 61 title run. Losing to the #2 Bearcats in the MVC title game.

WSU is #55 as of today in AP Poll appearances, and will break the top 50 and pass Temple this season. Good for #4 in the AAC in this regard.

So... cute poll from fansided. Judging by the modern state of journalism, one could probably assume the analytics involved with their poll included a coloring book and drawing straws.

Since you did it. Guess I will too...

Well when you’re 282 weeks behind. After thought is giving WSU too much credit. Just think if WSU spent every future week in the AP...and UC quit college hoops altogether...WSU could catch UC in just over 18 years.

I'm still trying to figure out why you care so much about WSU.

Payday: Here’s the historical fact. WSU has NEVER won in a conference shared with Cincy. And never will.

Why? It’s your 2 foot stature and 12 foot ego that motivates.
