Your question was what's better about this. I answered you. What's better about this is that this guy has actually improved the last two lackluster programs he took over. The other one drove a once thriving program into the ground. That's the difference. One scenario not likely, the other no way in hades. Not much of a difference, as I said, but still a difference. And if you didn't want an answer, why did you ask?

He hasn’t improved THIS one, and has not shown any evidence whatsoever that he will.

And if he improved Minnesota so much, why did they fire him?

Let's just hope we have a different coach next year. We should all be in agreement on that.

If they're here next year it will be the disaster of all disasters. Kind of like the rest of this year.

I don't remember who the poster here was that kept repeating "we'll rue the day" in almost every thread, but it turns out he was right.

You know I never bought in, I just knew it was a horrible hire.. I was excited as heck when JP left but was then again let down when they got Tubby.. I had no confidence in the hire and I can’t get behind something I have no belief in.. I have watched one game in Tubby’s tenure and that was a waste of 2 hrs of my time.. It was as bad as I thought it would be.. He has never won anything without someone elses players, he doesn’t recruit and never has.. He wasn’t all of a sudden going to miraculously change once he got here!!

Yep.. People kept saying things like "if he will just hire a good recruiter". Even the Tub said at his post-hiring press conference he was going to hire a top recruiter...

What I said was, the Tub has been coaching for 30 years. This is no new revelation. If he hasn't hired a recruiter in 30 years, why is he going to suddenly hire one now?

All of that is great and all. But now it’s time to turn the page. Tubby has to go and we (the U of M and big money cats) have to hire us a new coach. In my opinion it should be Penny. He will bring in a haul of a recruiting class and the fans will flock back to the forum. Now if they hire someone else, I’ll give that guy the same thing I gave Tubby, a chance to deliver. Whomever it is, I will either be supportive of or on the fence in a wait and see mode until they show they can’t get the job done.

Memtigbb, who would you like to see as the next coach? That’s what’s worth discussing. Start a list....

Penny
Crean
Forbes
Mack

It depends on the ramifications of firing him. We're all kidding ourselves if we think it's a cut and dried as we make it here. Rudd and Bowen also have to consider the wishes of the ones who pay the bills. I hope they're on board with getting rid of his lazy ass and worthless assistants, but that's all it is, hope.

We played Cincinnati? I can't remember a season where I didn't know we were playing a rival.

FWIW, a credible source told me money will not be an issue.
