Solid read. My co-worker prank called Snelly and ended up having a two hour conversation. He seems like a nice guy. Snelly, not my co-worker, he sucks.

Lmfao. Yeah, he is very amiable. I interviewed him often for the UP and we had some great conversations. We not only talked about football, but about his life as well. He definitely had some great stories to tell.

And I'm sorry to hear about your co-worker. Haha.

Wait ... is Howard Schnellenberger not in the College HoF? If not then it's a travesty.

Apparently, he can't be.

I don't think he ever coached ten years at a given school, did he? Isn't that one of the requirements?

From wiki:

Coaches must have at least 10 years of head coaching experience, coached 100 games, and had at least a .600 winning percentage.[16]

Also from wiki:

Head coaching record
Overall 158–151–3 (college)

So it appears he fails on .600 career winning percentage. I guess doing turnarounds is not the way into the HOF.

I would hope they would make an exception for him.

RE: NYT: Howard Schnellenberger
It's unfair. What sucks for us is Pruett didn't and won't get in despite:

94-23 for .803
1 National Championship
6 conference championships
5-2 Bowl record
2 undefeated seasons
2 top 25 finishes

But he only coached 9 seasons so no soup for him.
