I also recall Easterwood saying that Will Wade would not take the job after the way we treated Pastner. I believe he said Wade thought our fan base was bat s*** crazy.

Yeah that’s it. Our fanbase is crazy and awful. And all the other schools in the country have sound thinking, responsible, and super awesome fans.

Just was quoting what I recalled. I by no means think our fan base is any more reasonable or unreasonable than any other fan base. Any Tiger fan willing to accept the on court product at the moment and feels good about what we have in the pipeline for next season, well...

But no, by some miracle we got out of the moronic Opie contract and immediately got into an even worse one....when we could have had Beard for 1 million per year.

If we ever get rid of Tub, I hope different people are in charge of selecting his replacement.

Tubby's contract isn't brought up enough...

We b*****d about Pastners contract non-stop and by the grace of god GT saved our butts! You'd think we'd learn from that mistake.

Makes me question the intelligence of our AD and/or prominent basketball boosters. What's their explanation???

According to some folks on here, hiring him was going to cement our invite to the big 12 03-lmfao

Easterwood isn’t an authority.

I got news for the folks that don’t want Penny to be the next coach. He isn’t suddenly going to feed Memphis players because Tubby is no longer the coach. If they think Penny will send great players like a direct pipeline from East and Team Penny to Forbes, they are out of their minds. He wants the job. He won’t dig being passed over twice. He won’t be helping anyone but himself. The players love Penny and they will want to play for Penny.

This is all rehashed opinions of mine which I will not expand on.

However, I did say it would happen before it did.

And a huge I told you so is coming but ...

I would approach Penny in a "We need you manner."

Humbly and sincerely.

Ask him to help.

His terms.

I think he would.

Wow - if I were reading this comment in a vacuum, I would think penny would be the last person I would want coaching the team. First, he does not want his alma mater to succeed unless he is the coach by not wanting to send his players to any coach other then himself and second once he becomes the coach, there is no more pipeline since he will no longer be coaching East and Team Penny so seems like short term gains?
I do agree with several people about being excited when GT saved us by getting Pastner and then I was dumbfounded when I heard we hired Tubby. I almost felt like we did the same favor to Tech what GT did for us.

RE: Will Wade is a Nashville native.
Penny is ok with Tubby personally, but has no respect for him as a coach. When Pastner was coach and since Tubby got the job he has smelled blood.

If we don't hire him, but hire a good coach that Penny respects, he will realize that he isn't getting the job and we will start getting players.
