The Independence Bowl got most of what they wanted
Two teams with national brands that brought a large number of out of town and out of state fans which would have been even better if not in mid day mid week in terrible weather. Only thing lacking was a decent showing by USM.

I watched the game on TV and outside of the announcers talked nothing about USM. A couple Ito Smith is a nice players comments, but it was 3 hours of Taggart and what will FSU look like next year talk mixed in with where Derwin James and Josh Sweat would go in the draft. It's why I did not want FAU in that game.

You're kidding, right? I'm sure they also wanted SOMEBODY who could at least put up a fight against FSU today, and not sheeet in their own shoes. 03-lmfao

Aweful reason to not want a shot at it. Who cares about the announcers if you crap on what they are boasting about?

Kind a like the LaTech loss to USM. They were never the same after that game.

No doubt. FSU was way more talented then us, and it showed big time!!! I don't care what kind of season they had. They are very talented, and started playing good football the last month or 2. They won their last 5 games, including the bowl game. Their 4 and 5 star youngsters kicked our ass.

So, you were afraid that FSU would have done FAU the same way they did USM then. Because, the game's narrative totally changes if it's competetive or becomesa 3 hour Lane Kiffin love fest if you start blowing them out.

I truly wish USM had hung in there for CUSA's sake, but it is what it is. It is still a good bowl game appearance to hang your hat on. We did something similar with Clemson in 2001. I hope to never hear the name Woodrow Danzler ever again.

I respect your honesty Stink. I knew with Griggs at QB that USM had little chance. If Mullens was still there, heck yea.

The Golden Eagles have been a national brand since the 1960s as Mississippi Southern. I have the utmost respect for their program.

How'd you guys fare in your bowl game this year? Or last year for that matter, I can't recall.

no doubt we miss Mullens, but it had nothing to do with KG......

we have a serious corching problem........AGAIN.......I still don't want to talk about Bower 2.0.....at least he's not E12L....

It wasn’t the x’s and o’s, it was the Jimmy’s and Joe’s...Obviously.

RE: The Independence Bowl got most of what they wanted
Sigh. This thread is pretty ridiculous....trying to find/grasp whatever solace there may be in that embarrassment of a performance. News flash: there isn't any. We disgraced ourselves and the conference. This was probably the worst FSU team in the past 40 years vs a very mediocre team from a very sub-par conference and we got destroyed. Why? Because of x's and o's AND jimmies and joes.

This was the result of a the lowest paid coach and lowest paid staff in CUSA with a bunch of 2/3-star players going up against a coach/staff getting paid 2-3 times the amount with 4/5 star players. We really shouldn't be surprised at the outcome.
