UCA (10-1 regular season) did beat SHSU (10-1 regular season) by double digits, so should have been ahead of SHSU.
Comparing UCA to SBU & their one common opponent they both hosted, UNH, the difference was turnovers.
UCA dominated UNH statistically (434-216), but lost by 6 points due to losing the turnover battle 4 to 1.
SBU on the other hand, beat UNH by 2 TDs. Total yards was only 369 to 363, but won the turnover battle 3 to 1.
UCA, somewhere #5-#7, ahead of SBU, would have been reasonable. No way Soft Houston should have been seeded..

this board, along with NDSU visitors, is in full agreement on something - a steep drop after MVFC, CAA, Big Sky
let that sink in - and let's hope the coaches and media voters start getting more realistic in the polls
Weber wasn't Big Sky champs. SUU was.

No Weber was the most deserving of a seed. SB was probably second on that list.
I thought about Weber after I posted. I agree, they should have been a top 8 seed as well. Seeds 3-5 were a joke. Until the Southland or OVC champ, beats a top 3 MVC or CAA team, I am not seeding them especially not seeding them 1-6.
The So Con is not what it once was either but is superior to the Southland and OVC. The Big Sky showed well.
Here is how Versus would have seeded, with two from MVFC, CAA, and Big Sky. I generally agree with this ranking, though not sure about SHSU deserving even a 7 seed. I think the drop after #6 is steep, but don’t know who else would deserve the 7 and 8 slots. Yale, Wofford, Elon, and UNI were next 4.
1) JMU
2) NDSU
3) SDSU
4) Weber St
5) Stony Brook
6) Southern Utah
7) SHSU
8) Kennesaw St
Versus back on 11/19? Here's how the SRS had it after Week 12 (11/19):
1 James Madison 2.00
2 North Dakota St. 1.61
3 South Dakota St. 1.43
4 Southern Utah 1.37
5 Central Ark. 1.36
6 Jacksonville St. 1.32
7 Weber St. 1.27
8 Yale 1.25
9 Western Ill. 1.23
10 Sam Houston St. 1.16
11 Stony Brook 1.13
12 N.C. A&T 1.10
13 Samford 1.10
14 Kennesaw St. 1.06
15 Furman 1.01
16 UNI 0.97
17 Wofford 0.92
WITHOUT hindsight of the playoffs, I would have kept the top 7 SRS the same, & at #8 had Wofford (9-2/7-1), 1st out:
-SBU (9-2/7-1) didn't play JMU or Elon..
-WIU (8-3/5-3)
-SHSU
-Kennesaw
That would have been the same seeded teams except for removing SHSU & adding Weber & changing the order around some..

RE: Two Difference Makers
Even looking at the 11/19 SRS rankings, I think the fairest seeding would've been this:
1 JMU
2 NDSU
3 SDSU
4 SUU
5 WSU
6 UCA
7 JSU
8 WIU or SB (probably SB since it would be 3 seeded MVFC)
Teams like UCA and JSU are as "high" as they are due to past postseason appearances compared to teams around them in the rankings. They were able to start the season highly ranked and retain it.
Both SHSU and Wofford had no business being seeded, even without the hindsight of the playoffs.

Your 1-7 is the same as the 11/19 SRS & what I said except for moving WSU up 2 and dropping UCA & JSU down 1. That’s reasonable.
As far as #8, you could argue for and against the following 3 teams.
-WIU. Knock on them was 3 MVFC losses (all to playoff teams): SD by 5, NDSU by 12, and SDSU by 28. Did have 2 playoff wins over a pair of 7-4 (NAU, who shouldn’t have been in, and UNI) & thumped a terrible transitioning Coastal.
-SBU: Knock on them was only playoff win was over UNH (who frankly shouldn’t have been in). They lost at home to UD. Again dnp JMU or Elon. Still 9-2/7-1 out of the CAA..
-Wofford. Knock on them was barely beating so many teams, including mediocre ones. They must have been only 17th in the SRS because SRS does factor in margin of victory. 1-1 vs playoff teams, Won the So-Con with 9 wins, and the So-Connwas better than the Softland & OVCon the So-Con with 9 wins, and the So-Con was better than the Softland & OVC.
But all 3 of the above should have been seeded before Soft Houston..

Amos might take a punt return to the house.
He’s going to be up there with our greatest returners by the time he graduates 3 years from now. If he stays healthy and on the team....
I win.
He was our player of the game.

Amos almost single-handedly kept us in it with his returns.

JMU Special Teams play won their game. The missed FG was the only blemish. Amos was excellent as pointed out, and O’Kelly shined too. The next 3 years looks to be solid.

Another thing great about him is he runs up when possible to catch balls so they don't bonce an extra 10-20 yards.

And the roughing. But I agree the ST won their game:
Negatives:
-Roughing the punter that extended NDSU’s drive that led to their 1st TD.
-Missed 43 yard FG.
Positives:
-Made FG from 22? & 31?
-Blocked a FG.
-Converted the fake punt.
-Couple of long punt returns by Amos.
ST was a net plus verse a NDSU team known for having very good ST.

That was brutal.

Roughing play took their punter out of the game. He did not return after it.
