Bad loss, no doubt.

The MAC looks like a bunch of .500 teams with maybe a few upper tier teams.

By the end of today, most of the MAC West will have a loss.

Even though much heralded Ball State got their butts kicked today at home vs. Buffalo.

You ought to see BSU's streak against Akron and Kent. It's been like 10 years straight....

Lots of streaks are going to be broken in regards to Akron this season.

Our radio pbp guy mentioned twice that Dambrodt didn’t have them playing like he had in years past. 03-banghead

He's not wrong.

That was a freshman loss for Miami. We're not going to be all that much this season, but we have some young talent; one of our biggest problems is that we're so dependent on Ringo to keep things together.

Miami will be fine, just need another year to get a complete roster and some experience in place

I'll believe it when I see it. We'll be lucky to go 7-11 this year.

I still think Groce is an average-at-best coach that lucked into getting DJ Cooper while at Ohio.

So do you think the AD was kinda dumb to hire him?

yes

Groce has a good eye for talent. He's a little off, imo. I've watched him up close on the bench and he has some wacko moments (of course, not the first coach you could say this about). He clearly knows how to coach basketball but I think Dambrot does a better job of teaching defense. On the flip side, Groce was put in a very difficult position. He barely had a team to coach and he and his staff should get some credit for putting a respectable roster together on the fly. Parrish is a great underrated recruit with all-MAC potential. Patton has the ability to be a good MAC play. Kostelic the big frosh is not quite ready but has good size and agility and could become a legit big in time. Akron is basically a team with 1 true college ready big man-Sayles-who is a freshman, and 80% of the roster playing and practicing together for the first time this season. Groce already has 3 good transfers RS this year, so I think they will be fine, not sure if he will ever get them to that consistent MAC champ level but Dambrot set a high bar.
