Wesley > Blake
Blake was supposed to be the next big thing. Florida product. He was ok and had a couple good games as a Huskie. Wesley did more this year with less opportunity. I think some of these Florida guys come in thinking their hot stuff because they’re from Florida. Good player but I don’t think he ever played to expectations. Wish him the best but I’m excited about the combination of Tears and Wesley.....

Never understood why Wesley wasn't more involved this year. But then again, once Santa got benched, no wr was really involved.

That was literally the first catchable deep ball thrown to Blake since September. I like Wesley as well, but to say Blake can’t catch is ridiculous.

Blake is decent. Just doesn't do any one thing great. He'd look better with a much better QB. He's not the kind of player to shine on his own.

It is tough having a freshmen QB in mid-season. Every skill player on offense is effected by that and tough to gauge how the player would perform with a better QB. I know that all too well after our year.

Regarding Florida players, I would say that Tommylee Lewis would disagree. 03-wink

I didn’t say all Florida players..... Some pan out very well, but some have the attitude that just because they’re from a talent rich state that everything will be easy up North.

In part because we have a coaching staff that has zero ability to evaluate talent.

That said it does not matter so much which receivers we play until and unless we have a QB that can get them the ball. We had one of those but he was nailed to the bench for taking a risk despite his ability to make plays.

Lol. Can Carey bench himself for his risks? Hmmmmm

I think Blake was frustrated because he was doing so much better when Santa was the QB and he didn't get thrown to as much when he was benched. Plus he was overthrown to multiple times the 1st few games Childers played in.

Good thing Sutton got All American honors otherwise the last month of the season dating back to the CMU game would have been a complete cluster.

I think it's the same with the "3-star recruits". Which is why so few of them end up doing anything.

It sounds like Childers agrees with the Blake comments on this thread.

“There’s a lot of opportunities that we left out there,” Childers said. “There’s stuff that we have to work on and get better at. me being more consistent and the guys being more consistent too with catching the ball.”

I hope Childers works his butt off to become a consistent passer next year. I hope the coaching staff comes up with a lot better running scheme as well. All we did with Huff and Harbs were inside handoffs to the middle where it was either feast or famine. Our running game was absolutely basic and predictable. Let’s use Harbs to his fullest potential and not waste his talent like we wasted Huff’s. Please!

Childers loses his freshman disclaimer next year. No more, "He's a good QB - for a freshman". He will not be eligible for the MAC Freshman of the Year award. He will have to be judged among other MAC starting QBs. In '17, I do not think he was among the top 5 MAC QBs

Hopefully there is a reason we didn't burn the redshirt on Hall. If he is more dynamic then he needs an opportunity to win the job. Childers hasn't done anything to be given the keys right out of spring ball.
