If you want to see two well-coached teams, watch the FCS National Championship on January 6th. North Dakota State and James Madison are absolutely dominant in FCS football. Chris Klieman (NDSU) and Mike Houston (JMU) have teams that play very physical, disciplined football. They also know how to recruit. There are some great athletes on both teams. NDSU has seven players currently on NFL rosters.
Klieman's contract runs through 2021 and had a base salary of $300,000 in 2016. If NDSU wins the FCS championship, with incentives, Klieman will make close to $500,000. The buyout is only $150,000.
Houston's contract runs through 2027 and has a base salary of $390,000. He also receives $125,000 per year for media and fundraising appearances, paid for by private donations. Houston's buyout depends on which conference he were to go to. If he took a MAC job prior to Jan. 31, 2020, the buyout would be $500,000.

Since there is no point to G5 football, what is the point in changing coaches?

Why do you feel there is no point to G5 football? I get it you are frustrated with NIU and the MAC, but I certainly felt there was a "point" when NIU played in the Orange Bowl and WMU played in the Fiesta bowl.
NIU will rebound once Carey is set off to the sunset and the MAC will not be down forever. These things tend to be cyclical.

If you can’t win a championship in your sport, there is no point to it IMO.

And everyone gave me **** for hating on him a few weeks ago. I said it from day 1 hiring a coach because you know he won't get poached is not a way to move our program forward.

What an ignorant topic. We get it, there is group that hates Carey. He's not Saban, but he's not Sadler. He is a decent coach. We will continue to challenge for MAC Title under Carey. We recruited a lot of talent and maybe one or.two of those guys are game breakers and put us over the top.
Quit the ***ching Carey ain't going anywhere and we will continue with winning seasons with a possible MAC Title.

He just really, really, really needs to address the offensive philosophy of the team. It's totallly fair to question what they're doing. It's like a basketball team running the 4 corners. Defenses can just shut down today what worked 5 years ago.

+1
Defense needs to be looked at. Tight End is open every game. They did cover a little closer tonight but the QB was so easy to be accurate like all other opposing QB's.

0-5 in bowl games... Rod blows. SICK and tired of the kneeling and burning the clock when losing, the lameass offense, his snarky attitude...etc. I think NIU takes a chance and moves on...if he was good a P5 would have taken him .

RE: Does Carey deserve an extension?
Rod Carey started 8-7 against winning teams. 1-13 since. That one win is Eastern Michigan.
4 B1G scalps earns him 2018, but it’s a contract year. Extend him if 8-4 against that schedule but fire if 5-7. Question is what if 7-5 or 6-6?
