It's time to beat that old horse one more time but it is criminal that Chuck Ealey, the Wizard of OOHs and AHHS, still isn't in the College Football Hall of Fame over a stupid rule despite "the magical 35-0 run from 1969-71 represents a winning streak still unmatched in Division I football over the past 60 seasons."

I would to see Thompson return. I think he could go even higher in the draft with another season under his belt.

It's not a given that another season at UT would improve Thompson's stock. Woodside's replacement is unlikely to be up to that same standard in his 1st season as a starter, and certainly hasn't had a chance to build up the on-field rapport that he and Thompson have. Plus, there's always the risk of additional injury.

The GOAT will always be Ealey...

But Logan may end up 3rd all time and except for us... be all forgotten. This sucks but its life.

Bruce Grad was a big guy who could run and showed lots of emotion. The MAC was also filled with the likes of Leftwich, big Ben, michael turner etc. It was a prospect and high talent peak in the conference. The MAC has slipped in national perception. Logan just isnt receiving the hype he deserves EVEN though he is the best pure passer in Toledo history...sorry Gene and Bruce.

Logans legacy will be defined by not throwing picks and hitting lots of receivers on big big plays. He won 1 bowl game already and has the chance for another. He also won a MACC to bring the trophy back where it belongs.

I think Chester, Bruce, Kareem, Mancz, and Logan are all deserving of a retired number. I hope one day they will get that.

Sad for Logan after last night. Certainly a game to forget...but being his last...will be hard to do. He was among our best for sure. Retired number will have to wait and let things settle in for me.

Wasean should be right up there. 2,088 yds rushing in a single season and All American honors.

Woodside’s legacy is similar to JT Barrett’s legacy at OSU. I believe both hold passing career yards and maybe touchdowns but neither will go down as top 3 quarterback in school history. Reasons range from accumulating stats as a starter or backup over a 4 year career vs having 2 amazing seasons. Another reason is that neither QB lived up to fan expectations of how the team would finish. Though Woodside had a great career and will be fondly remembered, the bowl game clunker will forever have an impact on his legacy at Toledo

How is he not Top Three? Ealey is 1, maybe Bruce is 2....who else? Swick’s teams were awful and he couldn’t bring that level up, John S was good but not at Woodside’s level. I have Woodside at 2 or 3.

Woodside not in the top 3 QBs in UT history?

Agree that no one can top Ealey, until/unless someone wins like 42 straight, but I gotta give #2 to Woodside.

Bruce was great, no doubt, but Woodside now has broken nearly every record Bruce with one big exception being total TDs (run or passed for) which he trails by 2. If I have tallied the records right, Bruce was 26-10 as a starter, and Logan 28-9. (Logan did start most of the games his sophomore year, so he really did play most of 3 full seasons.) Both won 1 MAC championship. Bruce was 1-1 in bowls, and Logan 1-2.

Swick was a record-setting QB, but did not play on winning teams.

Two of the four teams Swick played on were winners. Coaching played a huge part in those losing seasons. UT was wild, plenty of fun times.

Even though I never saw him play, I have to list Ealey at #1.
Gradkowski is my #2. Woodside may have the stats, but Bruce had the intangibles.
#3 would be Woodside

Did you see the 63-14 beating by a 4-7 Kansas in the 2004 MACC season? Kansas was up 42-0 with most of the Second Quarter left. Bruce had a real bad day with some picks and a fumble that went for a JayHawk TD.

I read about it, but I did see Bruce march a Rocket team down the field and throw a perfect ball in the corner to upset #9 Pitt. I saw him throw a rocket down the field against BG and hit Lance Moore with causing him to break stride. He won a MAC Championship with a broken hand, and he had 13 year NFL career. The game just seemed more electric with him in there. I saw Woodside throw two picks Saturday under moderate to low pressure. With Bruce I always felt confident the big drive or play was nearing, but with Woodside I felt the big play/drive would "more than likely happen". It is just my opinion, which counts for 0 in the real world. For every one of Woodside's great plays, I felt like 2 or 3 could have been better. IMO, he threw quite few that were a little too high, could have used a little more zip, or a little too behind his receivers. That's splitting hairs for a guy who broke a lot of records, but that's how I feel. I also feel that is what will keep him from a long stay professionally.

I always felt that Bruce didn't have a great arm. Great lateral movement. His will to win and FB mind are what separated him from other Pro QB's.
