Could JMU become the 1st team to go 15-0 on an all Div I schedule?
Below are the only 3 teams since I-AA was created in 1978 that went undefeated that I am aware of.
-1989 Ga Southern (15-0), didn’t play a I-A, played a Div II (Valdosta St). Won @ JMU 36-21 btw..
-1996 Marshall (15-0), didn’t play a I-A, played a Div II (WV State). Pretty much destroyed everyone, including undefeated Montana in the NC game. Loaded with future NFL talent, at least 9 future NFL players, 5 of them draft picks (2 1st round, (Randy Moss, Chad Pennington), a 2nd, a 3rd, and a 5th). John Wade, a Jr Center in 96' who was a 5th round in 98', spent 11 seasons in the NFL. From Harrisonburg, VA, btw.
-2013 NDSU (15-0) played a Div II (Ferris State).
Did I miss anyone (since I-AA was created in 1978) that went undefeated?

Eastern Kentucky 1982 went undefeated but I don’t know if they played any lower level schools or not

They played UCF - which was in its first year in D2. (They didn't join I-AA until 1990.)

-1994 Youngstown did not lose any games, but had one tie. (However, they did play two D2 teams (Slippery Rock and North Alabama)
FYI - That 1989 GSU team played at least four lower division teams that year - Valdosta, West Georgia, Savannah State, and UCF. (I'm guessing that I-AA wasn't as "self-contained" as it is today.)

Yeah they went 13-0. I read where 1989 Ga Southern was the 1st to go 15-0, so I didn’t look before 89’.

I knew about the YSU with the tie (plus like you said 2 D2).
I didn’t look past Valdosta on GSU, missed W Ga. Good catch on Sav State & UCF- didn’t know they were Div II at the time..
So it looks like JMU can make history..

Pretty sure EZU is appreciative of folks still referring to them as Div. 1.

RE: Could JMU become the 1st team to go 15-0 on an all Div I schedule?
Wait, I was only thinking of I-AA. A lot of teams won the old I-A NC going 12-0 or 13-0. I’m sure at least 1 went 14-0. But the last 3 years when their have been the 4 team playoffs the winners have been:
2014 season: Ohio St 14-1 (lost to VA Tech lol)
2015 season: Bama 14-1 (beat Clempson who was 14-0 coming in).
2016 season: Clempson 14-1 (beat Bama who was 14-0 coming in).
So JMU could become the 1st ever period in ALL of Div I to go 15-0 on an all Div I schedule, no?

I'd rather than just win the game first.
Deciding which record your next victory will break is like counting the money before the game is over, not that I am superstitious or anything like that.
Just win baby.
Go Dukes!

I had the strangest dream last night. JMU lost the N.C. game but they weren’t playing NDSU. They were playing Austin Peay. No joke. What is the heck do you all make of that dream?

Probably would have been a better dream if the Dukes had been playing Oregon State.

Maybe it’s a that in Jan 2021, after JMU has won it’s 4th NC in 5 years & MH gets a HC job at a P5 for 1.5 million a year, JMU hires Wil Healy as the new HC. The turn around he has led at AP has been absolutely phenominal. Only 32, was already a finalist for the USA job..
-Last winning season before this season 2007.
2013 0-12
2014 1-11
2015 0-11
2016 0-11 (Healy’s 1st season).
2017 8-4 (2 I-A losses).
