Gonna be another abysmal bowl showing by the MAC. Good thing all those weeknight games give us that recruiting advantage LOL

I just wonder why that is. Too many years of this pattern.

Are northern teams too wrapped up in the sun and fun and touristy stuff, where our southern opponents are just used to it and have a better mindset for the game?

I know we aren’t a great confidence with a lot of swagger, but we seem to have a bit more moxie in September.

Barring a miraculous NIU comeback, this will be 1-10 in bowl games dating back to last year. 1-7 against G5 teams.

Great, the only thing that kept us from two straight winless bowl seasons was OU of all teams...

Sorry guys Carey can only beat average MAC teams...we suck in bowls vs teams at or above .500.

I expect an 0-5 record every year. This Conference talks a big game but really sucks.

RE: A MACTION Weekend
This keeps up and the MAC needs to consider migrating to FCS and competing for a national championship at a level at which the conference can compete. Getting waxed 163-72 in 5 games is embarassing

Not paying for 32 extra football scholarships would save $ as each team would be able to cut non revenue women's sports by a corresponding number of scholarships or add an emerging sport like Men's LaCrosse and get a jump on the Big 10.

RE: A MACTION Weekend
We went 0-6 last season, but 5 of those losses were by one score. Only CMU's game was a blowout. So at least those games were entertaining down to the wire.

This year... the bottom really fell out. In each loss, the game was generally decided by the third quarter.

One theory is that our northern MAC players are too mesmerized by the sun and fun, things southern players are more used to and can shrug off, and therefore aren't as "up" on game day.

But that doesn't explain the Potato and Detroit bowls. And if any underdog conference should be hungry to make a statement on the national stage, it should be MAC teams.

And while everyone would agree Boca or Nassau is 100x more desirable than 10-degree Detroit, Carey should keep those thoughts private. His public 'disappointment' sets the locker room tone early.

I can't stick up for this Conference anymore.
What a joke.
Now we get a 13th seed in the big dance and a loss by 25 points in March.

From 12/29/01 through 12/26/06 the conference bowl record based on current membership is 7-5

From 1/6/07 to 1/6/11 total conference record is 3-15.

From 12/17/11 through 12/24/14 total conference record is 6-14

From 1/4/15 to the present total conference record is 5-14.

Grand Total 21 W 48L

Marshall and Toledo were a combined 4 W 2L during their years in the MAC beginning in 2001.

Administrators and fans need to decide whether moving to FCS is more palatable than losing 7 out of 10 bowl games plus few Saturday home games from 10/15 through the end of the season. If MAC moved to FCS I doubt ESPN would want to televise weeknight Oct Nov games.

The fans won't show up, certainly, if you drop to FCS.

Well I am, for one. And I wouldn't be showing up even on a Saturday if they decided to go FCS. They might as well just kill the program.

I would not mind an fbs division of G5 schools that would have a playoff pitting the winner into one of the NY6 bowls...
Best of the AAC/MWC/Conf.USA/MAC/Sunbelt ...

To put the icing on the awful bowl season, B1G about ready to go undefeated in their season. Although I think every Big Ten team was the higher ranked or favorite going into their matchup (or at least the vast majority).

Take heart. You spoke too soon. Coach Harbugh failed to earn his $9 million dollar salary this year as he presided over one of the all time classic second half meltdown/choke games of the year (if not the decade) and sent the B1G spiraling down to a mere 7-1 bowl record. In the meantime former MAC member UCF who left the MAC with their tail between their legs going winless in conference play their last year in the MAC just capped off a 13-0 season with a New Year's Day win over top 10 Auburn and should finish high in the top ten with a legitimate argument that they should have been given a shot at the playoff for the National Championship. Anyway hopefully people will keep their year in mind for future reference because they just showed us what a real G5 access bowl team ideally looks like.
