Sorry, getting mad is not a strategy to win. And it's not going to get players to "compete". If we don't have the personnel to play uptempo AND defend, get rid of the uptempo. It's hard to lose by 20+ if you keep the score under 60.
DO SOMETHING. ANYTHING. COACH.
These are not 4-5 star players who simply need to ""turn it up" to win. We don't have the roster from last year. Fine. Find a way to at least compete anyhow.
What happened to "the buck stops here" as a coach?

Sorry, we're paying someone over 300K per year to WIN GAMES not implement some "system". Enough already. We're getting worse, not better. This is on the coaches to change strategy for the roster we have and isn't fair to the players. Could care less who reads this or gets mad for it being said. Ban me if needed.

There is no reason why UNCW is this bad. KenPom now has UNCW predicted to be last in the CAA. Six conference wins. 9 or 10 overall wins. To go from 14 combined losses in the last two seasons under Keatts to losing by 37 to a NDSU team that was below .500 going in is a major shock to the system. Something needs to be changed.

RE: nd state
Y'all are right and I was just stating what was said. I agree that this needs to be taught and stressed heavily. You got to see ball and man at all times, never lose separation, be there on the catch, fight through and/or get a big hedge and recovery. All fundamentals that need to be there. It was a bad performance tonight and it's on everybody including the staff. This is something that went under the radar last year due to the prolific scoring and great individual defenders like Flemmings and Bryce. They still weren't good last year defensively but could outscore everyone and could get some stops at times. This is a work in progress but it starts with defensive posture, communication and desire. The defense has to improve and my hope is that it starts after this game. It has to get better. Also, getting another rim protector or 2 has to be a focal point going into recruiting. That can cure a lot of problems inside but the 3 point defense is killing the Hawks this year.
The offense looked a bit better wrt ball reversals and 45 degree entries but there comes a time that a few guys have to drive the ball downhill and attack the hole too. We were too predictable at times it appeared. There needs to be some drive and kicks too. Guys are just getting used to each other and there isn't a consistent go to scoring presence outside of Talley yet and he's the PG. That should get better-Fornes and Taylor and possibly Gary need to accept this. The 2 and 3 guys have to be killers and be ready to accept that role on a consistent basis. At least there was some ball movement so you can tell that they've been working on their half court offense. It will get better.
I'm going to pull for the team regardless and take the good with the bad.

According to Kenpom's new school records page dating back to the 01-02 season, that was the highest opponent's effective FG% UNCW has ever allowed. The took out the previous record of a February 2013 loss to W&M. We did go on to win the next game that year so...good sign?

RE: nd state
I remember one recent year when JMU lost nearly every nonconference game and then was fairly competitive in league play. I wish it mattered about the nonconference, but as long as the league is a one bid league, the regular season conference play and CAA tournament are all that matters. So, right now, you guys are 0-0 just like everybody else. The Tribe got crushed at High Point and at Ohio State. We probably will lose badly tonight at TCU and our RPI is in the 80's. None of that gets us a bid to either the NCAA or the NIT, so only the conference play matters which begins in a week. With Cacok and Talley, I cannot imagine you guys won't be fine.
But, I am bummed that someone beat our FG percentage record against you guys. Have a Merry Christmas and remember the "new year" is 8 days away.

Merry Christmas to you as well. Hopefully you're right and the guys are just waiting till the CAA part of the schedule to turn it on.

Nice passive-aggressive dig at me here. Sheesh, f*ck me for trying to have some optimism, right?

Gentlemen, please try to present at least a shred of civility in here. I understand the losses are piling up... along with everyone's emotions, but let's try to pretend that we can settle our disagreements concerning the current shape of things in a manner that our mothers would appreciate.
I like you fellas. I don't want to have to crack some digital skulls.
