About the Ticks
Whoever thought of calling them the Ticks should be given a medal. Does anyone know how or when that tradition started?

Have you seen their mascot emblem? It's almost second nature based on it being red. A bleeding insect, you say - oh a tick then. Would be curious to know as well though. Have to be at least 10 years old at this point based on my knowledge of the term back in 08.

RE: About the Ticks
When the first settlers from New Jersey established the UNJ-Henrico campus, that's just what they chose as their mascot. Wish there was a better story!

Yes, they are like leaches on society. When did we first recognize them as a net drain on society?
