Exclamation Early signing today - surprises
As of noon looks like nine have signed. Surprises are that Titus Jones is listed as a Defensive Lineman (not OG) and Chris Clark is listed as a Defensive End (not OT). These, with Keith Brigham (SDE) and Keith Brown (LB) look to be all we have signed on the defensive side of the ball.
Personally expected ten to sign early. A long time and a lot of recruiting between now and official signing in Feb. Still plenty of time to build DL and defensive backfield.
Don't forget, we hope to get Jackson Dillon back for another year and we red shirted some good defensive kids last year.

RE: Early signing today - surprises
The early signing surprise was that NO Memphis area recruit (other than Baddie) signed with the Tigers. Major disappointment. Got to try harder for the 2019 class!!

Maybe recruit other Tennessee cities. Hard to beat out SEC teams in Memphis.

RE: Early signing today - surprises
Tigers had a couple local kids commit last year -- Brown (Cordova) & Taylor (East); in 2016 we had Hart and Pickens (MUS) & Hill (B'crest).
Coach Dickey was the assistant coach with responsibility for local recruiting and he left before signing day. Still have a couple of months before 2018 class is closed out.

Not a disappointment at all. With the exception of Robinson, the Memphis kids that are leaving are going off to... Last Place Teams. That means the great possibility of mucho playing time at those places.

They'd be nice additions, but, we're not hurting at any of their positions. I tell ya this, I love the quality of the guys who are coming. Fleming and Badie, in particular, are two sticks of dynamite. Mess around if you want and give them a crack and you'll be hearing the cannon and the Memphis fight song!

It's a long way 'til February. There're going to be alot of jilted lovers across college football looking for new mates between now and then. Today's just the beginning.

Remember that the following contributors to Tiger football were all 2-star recruits --
D. Dorceus, C. Johnson, Avery, Mayhue, Dillon, JAKE ELLIOTT $$$, Kuhn, J. Wilson --
All proved that they were overlooked by the "scouting services" and all proved their worth on the field.

Remember what a bust Jaelon Oglesby was -- probably the highest rated recruit in Tiger history.

5 Stars vs The No Stars.....our "dented" cans beat their premium cans. That's all that counts.....WINS.

He made some great plays on the field. Off the field not so much.

Around 80 of the ESPN top 100 already signed on the first day of the new early signing period.

February signing period will quickly become mostly irrelevant.

Just did a quick count, around 75 of 2nd 100 of ESPN's Top 300 signed today.
And around 74 of the 201-300 ranked players on ESPN's Top 300 signed today.

2 more days of early signing.

Both Tennessee and Mississippi State had the same # on signers as Memphis -- 10.

Mississippi State has 15 signed LOI's and 6 more commits. Seen them ranked anywhere from 15-21st nationally. All with a new, relatively unknown coach from the Northeast, and a new staff. They are ecstatic as they should be.

The Tigers are RELOADING for another run at the title. They're building up their depth. According to Norvell, they're hitting all their targets. Just in the last few minutes, Gainwell has come on board. And you know what he did last weekend. Now, if that doesn't excite you, then check your pulse. The Tigers will go into next season in the Top 25 and a POSSIBLEdate, if ever goes as planned, with GameDay vs UCF (fingers crossed).

Our guys are coming into the ideal situation. They're coming to a team of champions. Can't say that it you're headed to Bloomington or Starkville or Knoxville. Good luck to those young men, they're going to need it.
