RE: JMU Ticket Requests Exceed Allotment
The thing is most of the die hards will have tickets either through the school allotments or Aug purchase or connection with another die hard who has them.

Most of the thousands (maybe 10k+ between the 2 schools) without tickets will be casual fans, students & young alums who mostly won’t, or can’t afford to pay $300-$500 a ticket. There may not be enough die hards (NDSU would have more than JMU) without tickets to keep prices that Sky high..We’ll see..

RE: JMU Ticket Requests Exceed Allotment
It’s all supply and demand. Demand is high, and it looks like there are only 200-300 tickets left in the open market.

As soon as the school allocations go out, those left out will be looking to buy, and that will mean upward price pressure.

JMU was incredibly lucky to draw YSU last year and have them return tickets. This year is much different. NDSU by themselves would buy all 20k if they could.

NDSU giving 300 tickets to students. Has it been confirmed that JMU gave all 1,300?

All I’ve seen publically is they guaranteed 2 for each DC25 member, plus some additional student tickets. My speculation is they gave the students 1300, but don’t know for certain. How many DC25 members are there? That would give a ballpark answer.

what i saw was that demand far outstripped supply - those ticket exchange prices are going to float back up

I'm afraid there are going to be a lot of disappointed Dukes fans who are below the ~$1,000 giving level.

Right around 10 or 11pm tonight when JMU sends out 100s of “we are sorry, but go check NCAA Flash seats”

If you don’t think you will have enough points, those $250ish seats are looking good, and won’t last.

I certainly hope it will be a lot earlier than 10 PM. The guy in the ticket office with whom I spoke said they'd start putting it together right at 5. We'll see soon.

Last year I got the confirmation email around 10:15pm

Think they go back and tabulate points for anyone who donated the past day or two.

They also have to try and accommodate all of the requests to put people with others who requested to be seated near them which will take some time once points are sorted out.

They have to individually assign seats for over 5,000 tickets. That doesn't happen instantly. Also, as 98 said, there are a lot of people that request to be seated near each other that may not have exactly matching priority points, so they have to figure out all of that. It's a very complicated process and props to the ticket office staff for staying late to get it worked out the same evening that reservations close.

You can easily get a jump on that exercise as the orders come in. You know the alpha dogs are not going to be topped on points so their seats have been assigned since Sunday at 9am. You clearly have a group that is on the bubble that might get bounced off but the top 100 or so orders (~800 of 4,000 seats) are probably set at this point and those seats can be assigned prior to 5pm.

Not that simple as you still have high level donors who may want to sit with donors not at quite the same level which can be tricky. I agree that most of that is probably done prior to 5 today, but there still is that last little bit of work to be done which I would think would take 4-5 hours.

Also curious what the breakdown to students vs donors is. I hoped it was less than 1000.

Just as an FYI, Alpha Dog donations/membership do not count towards priority for seating.

Ehhh it really is pretty simple. Tedious, sure. Simple, yes. I'd be very surprised if it took till 10pm to get the seat assignments locked up. Last year they got it done in about that time and it was a new process AND they had a greater amount of tickets to divy up.

I had wondered about that, especially once I saw the extra pay for Houston. So it doesn't even count into the lifetime dollars category? That's unfortunate...then again I guess it's not unrestricted dollars. Even more appreciative of this group now.

Couldn't they send out an earlier e-mail saying either something along the lines of:
"Yes, you received the requested X number of tickets. A further e-mail by tomorrow will be sent out with exact seating locations"
or
"No, we're sorry to inform you that due to bla blah blah, we were unable to fulfill your request for tickets"

Pretty sure thats essentially what happened last year. Confirmation email did not have the seating location, just stated your order would be fulfilled. It took a few more days for them to mail them out.
