RE: Streamers prohibited at N.C.
People should have no problem sneaking a handful in with the heavy winter clothing. If people:
-Only threw them when the team ran out and during JMU TDs (safety in numbers).
-Only in the JMU sections (don't throw them at the Bison section or in the mixed sections (August tickets). Again safety in numbers and avoids conficts with Bison fans.
-Not anywhere near the field.
-Not at the cameramen, etc.

I wouldn't think there would be a problem.

Wonder is if JMU is trying to get this changed.

I’d think and hope so.

That is part of JMU football.

No traditions allowed in Frisco?

Honestly?

Quite flattering that we have “rules” being made in Dallas Texas intended solely for a bunch of backwoods billhillies from tiny James Madison college.

Made a hell of an impression 12 short months ago, something apparently no one else has managed to do.

We’re just that f#^]ing awesome.

Thanks ‘Ster!

January 7th, 2017 JMU wins championship in Toyota Stadium, streamers allowed
August 5th, 2017 CJ Sapong, JMU alumni, scores twice in a 3-1 game against Toyota Stadium's team, (FC Dallas) causing his team to defeat FC Dallas for the first time ever.
October 2017 FC Dallas would end up missing the playoffs for the fist time in 5 years, had they won/tied the game against JMU's Sapong, they would've made the playoffs.
December 18th, 2017 Toyota Stadium announces they will ban JMU's tradition of throwing streamers to celebrate scoring

Seems to me like this is clearly the fault of CJ Sapong and a crusty MLS host. Had CJ not scored those 2 goals FC Dallas makes the playoffs and we still throw streamers without a police excort out of the building.

RE: Streamers prohibited at N.C.
Even if the NCAA made the rule the stadium could decide whether or not to have it enforced. If someone got kicked out of the championship game after trhowing a streamer in teh 1st quarter that would be pretty lame.

My only question is will throwing streamers penalize our team based on the ban.

No way. Don't let anyone tell you differently unless they're wearing a white hat that day.

As long as they stay in the stands, I think that is true.

If streamers enter the sidelines or field of play, they could issue penalties. Bottom line - don’t be stupid and throw them at players or refs ...

Carol Benassi posted in the JMU Nation page on Facebook last night with some NCG info.

She said that streamers were banned because they were thrown at players and on to the field last year.

EDIT: Does anyone remember a warning or penalty given to the JMU sideline for streamers on the field? That would be an odd reason to ban them if there wasn't a penalty or multiple penalties for it.

There were multiple warnings issued, but no penalties. It did seem that after the first warning was issued, people started throwing them to the sides instead of at the field. By the time it got to the 2 minute warning in the 4th, though, there were some efforts made to hit the motorized dolly the camera guy was on.

Houston was just asked what his thoughts were on the streamer ban during his press conference. He responded and said "I think the NCAA just ensured that there will be more streamers than ever in Frisco, TX this year." 01-ncaabbs

There weren't "some efforts" to hit the camera guy. He was covered in streamers.
