The cheapest ticket is now over $400. I see some for $1000+. Whoever thought you would see that for a JMU game?

I have seen some discussion on here of profiteering on tickets. If you bought tickets speculatively in August and want to make a profit, I have no problem with that.

If you are using your Duke Club priority status to buy more tickets than you need in order to re-sell on the secondary market, I take issue with that.

1. you are denying other Duke club members tickets
2. if you sell, you are either profiting on a JMU'er or giving up our tickets to a NDSU fans

I believe the prices will come down once the tickets are distributed to the schools and to the fans. Those tickets will inevitably hit the secondary market, increasing supply.

Hopefully, the stadium is trying to find additional capacity or get the endzone seating finished. Not having the endzone seating finished for this game is a crime.

This phenomenon probably plays into it. 3 workers, 8 overseers that could be doing something constructive.

Pretty sure that the endzone section has been completed as of a few days ago. That is why the JMU allotment increased from 4000 to 5400.

Yes, the lower tier was completed, and pretty sure those are where JMU got the additional 1300 seats. Suspect most of those were part of the student allocation this year. They priced them a bit lower, which is fair for endzone seating.

The upper tier of the endzone would require them to complete the endzone club/building, which I believe won’t be in place this year. It would only add another 1500 or so seats though.

The real answer is a bigger venue, but that won’t happen until 2021 at the earliest.

Won’t happen due to contracts already in place with Frisco thru 2020.
And even if they could, they likely won’t pick a venue that large. If JMU/NDSU/JSU/Montana type schools aren’t there, it would look empty.

There are only around 6 FCS schools that have a capacity issue with Frisco. And while they frequently attend, I’m not sure if their voice is large enough to change things.

The head of the committee that decides this (Tennessee Tech AD) is on record last year saying how happy they are at Frisco. They asked us last year what we thought of Frisco at the game. If you are asked or get a questionnaire, be sure to speak up and say that it’s too small for this event.

Agree that the NCAA will likely have to see several consecutive years of demand far outweighing supply before they will consider moving it to a much-larger venue. Perhaps this is for a thread of its own in the offseason after the Dukes win another national title in Frisco, but a few additional thoughts...

-NFL venues are off-limits for the first 2 weekends of the NFL playoffs. Yes, even in Cleveland. So, as long as the NCAA holds this on the first Saturday in January (which makes a lot of sense to me), this normally coincides with the NFL playoffs and those venues/dates are blocked.

-I think MLS stadiums are probably about the right size. It will be interesting to see if Orlando bids for it once the current contract with Frisco/Toyota Stadium ends. Orlando City Stadium built for their new MLS team (just finished their 2nd season this past year) holds 25,500 per wiki which is several thousand larger than Frisco/Toyota even after renovation. Plus, there is a lot to do in the Orlando area - one that is used to hosting lots of tourists -plenty of hotels/restaurants, and better likelihood of warmer weather.

There is no guarantee the contract will be rebid.

Last year, the NCAA simply said “we are happy in Frisco” and extended the existing contract without a bidding process. It will take some pressure from Schools, ADs, Fans for the NCAA to reopen this for bidding.

If you are REALLY upset, consider emailing the Tennessee Tech AD. He leads the committee that made this decision.

For the record, I'm only going to sell up to 4 tickets (what I bought in August), keeping the better set of 4 depending on what section JMU gives me.

Which brings me to another point; what if my points aren't high enough for the 4 I ordered? I will be sad because Free Texas seems fun.

I thought Frisco was great last year. Other than the occasional ticket shortage we are seeing this year I have no issues with the game being there for the foreseeable future at all.

If folks are going to start emailing the Tennessee Tech AD about Frisco, go ahead and mention the fact an 11 a.m. kickoff for a national championship game is a crime.

It's sad, I think they could sell ~40K tickets to this game. Even the casual football fan would have interest in seeing this game. I said last year it was too small when we went.

Move it to the original cotton bowl. Would be ideal this year!

We went by there last year (sort of by accident). While it’s plenty large, the surrounding buildings/fairgrounds looked pretty dumpy to me now. Seems like they’ve neglected maintainence for a number of years.

I’d rather try something else like Orlando. Florida would be a closer trip, and generally nicer weather also.

Yeah, once the cotton bowl (game) moved to Cowboys Stadium, that place gets about as much maintenance love as City Stadium in Richmond.
