RE: Challenging game Monday
Wait, we were 5 point favorites coming into this game?
Last year we went 4-8 out of conference, one of those wins against Marygrove. We bulk up our win column on teams like them, Northwood, Rochester College, Sienna Heights...
Look, I know the OOC schedule doesn't mean anything. We even stunk it up during our 2014 championship season.
But it'd be kinda fun if a Hawkins' squad showed up in November and December. I honestly can't remember the last time we had a "signature" win (Va Tech 10+ years ago?).

Our guards were terrible today. 8 for 30. 7 assist. I was just reading how well we pass the ball. Joke!!!!!!!! I don't understand why the coaching staff won't fix this problem. Embarrassing

RE: Challenging game Monday
Idaho reminded me a lot of the North Dakota St. teams we played several years ago. Very well coached, experienced (lots of seniors), tough on the boards, plays well on the road, and most definitely a team to keep an eye on in March.

Fundamentally sound.

Possibly Worst 1st half of basketball played by WMU since:
WEST VIRGINIA vs WESTERN MICHIGAN (11/24/06 at Disney Wide World of Sports, Orlando, FL)
Half time score 44-11
Quote:The Broncos scored just 11 points in the first half as they turned the ball over 20 times against the Mountaineers (5-0) unique version of the 1-3-1 zone defense.

RE: Challenging game Monday
Idaho was very well coached, with experienced players.
Idaho coaching staff had a "great" game plan.
#1 limit time that Thomas Wilder has the ball,
They accomplished that by a 3/4 court press (which took offensive seconds off the clock getting across the line). Takes the ball out of Wilder's hands, where our offense usually starts. (bet we see this again later this season)
#2 changed defenses from, Man to Man, to Zone, the entire game,
This totally confuses any team, we constantly looked to the bench for play or directions, we looked stunned, as if not expecting that "man & zone" switching.
When we figured out where to attack the play clock was running down.
Idaho will be in the NCAA at the end of the season, very good team!

RE: Challenging game Monday
Their press and corner traps were impressive and well executed.
Great point about limiting Wilder’s TOP. Now that you mention it, he for sure was getting the ball late in the shot clock. Definitely by design.

Last few games Wilder's penalty position early in games has limited his abilities ...

Ahh, that was the game right after we beat a solid Virginia Tech (22-12 record that season) down there.
