MBB vs Wright St
I knew in the first 3 min of the second half, we'd blow it. No energy. Wasted posessions. Didn't fight for lose balls. Diff from this game and Marshal, we gave up with a lead vs Marshal, this one we gave up at half.

RE: MBB vs Wright St
Having had season tickets for awhile, I was apprehensive at first on what this team will accomplish this season... Leaving Savage I got the feeling that this team has somewhat mailed it in... Lack of energy and not having fun out there for the most part...Possibly the influx of W. Jackson into the rotation may help, but I’m starting to think that K is on the verge of losing this team...
Also appeared to be a whole lot of disinterest from those in attendance... Basketball and football are definitely going in opposite directions...

Just returned from the game. PATHETIC! Toledo had superior talent at every postion, yet was out coached in every aspect of the game. Hope that TK was able to watch and learn from Wright State. Strong defense IS still being coached and played in college hoops... just NOT at Toledo.

Men's basketball and football are going in different directions. Women's basketball is in great shape. Very few fans even stood up today when the team was introduced. Attendance was under 4,000. If you would gave dimmed the lights, it would have been the perfect environment for a nap.

Same could be addressed about the University of Toledo if you were an impartial outside observer...03-banghead

Watched very little today. But it’s become apparent that the offense has suffered since fletcher has become the ball handler 85% of the time. Lots of Steve Taylor syndrome developing. Sanford is suffering the most from this.

Same ol same ol though. Gonna be a long season. Thank goodness for football.

I decided not to comment here during the game so that I could really just focus on the play on the court.

I’ll just say that things clearly are not well with this program.

I only caught the last 6 minutes, so mostly based on the numbers.

Too many turn overs, too many fouls. Didn't shoot well, again. W. Jackson debut unimpressive.

This is not a good basketball team.

I disagree about Willie Jackson. Though he only scored two points, he showed some athleticism, got some rebounds, and did a good job of tipping the ball back to his teammates after some missed shots. Playing for the first time in a year, I thought he did pretty well.

This team is talented! Every player can score and shoot. I think when they figure it out they will be very good. Looks like they are trying to find their identity. It is almost like they have too many good pkayers and are trying to get that right combination and chemistry. I am hopeful they improve and gain their confidence over the next couple of games.

Sounds like they need a coach.

RE: MBB vs Wright St
I turned the game on at the end of first half and watched all I could stand in the second half until it was obvious they could not get past the 8 point deficit that Wright State laid on them early in the 2nd half. Not only is the defense not very good, but watching the offense try to run plays is almost comical. I think there is plenty of talent on the team, they are just not being utilized very well. Can't have everyone throwing up 3's and have no movement the rest of the time you are on offense. Remember the days when we would beat Michigan, Houston, Indiana, .... Wright State?

RE: MBB vs Wright St
The trendline is why I can’t get excited about this season:

Texas Southern: had to dig out of a 19-point hole to beat a team, at home, that was winless & missing 2 starters...a win, but under conditions that shouldn’t have happened.

Next up: Gave up a double digit lead late at Detroit, but won on Fletchers last second shot...again, a win, but more problematic than the previous game because we blew a lead.

Next up: the collapse at home against Marshall...again, gave up a double digit lead, and had a game in control at the 5 minute mark, but this time couldn’t win.

And now: the loss at home to Wright State, in a game where we had a shot at making a statement, and instead let the Raiders stay in reach in the first half and then we just didn’t respond well in the second half. Even worse than the previous game.

Now, those of you who say we won’t really know how good or bad the season was until the end are absolutely correct. I just don’t like the trend, which seems to signal poorer play with MAC play just around the corner.

But maybe Sanford & Navigato begin to play more consistently. Maybe Fletcher quits trying to win games by himself (a la Juice, a la Jon Jon, a la Steve Taylor). Maybe after a few more games Willie Jackson DOES become a force. Maybe TK gets a book of treasured coaching secrets from some of the greats for Christmas. Time will tell.

I feel like every year the same folks say “wait and see what kind of team we have come March”. And every March the answer is “mediocre”. So I’m tired of that excuse. We’ve been waiting until March since the early 80s.

How many more seasons does Coach k have on his contract. At this level, I don't see a buyout.

At least Wright State AD, Bob Grant who had a vision to bring another coach after a 20 win season by their previous coach, Billy Donlon. Grant wants NCAA appearances badly.

I see that Donlon is no longer on the Michigan staff. DeAntry Hayes is now there.

" wants NCAA appearances badly ". - What a novel idea...
Agreed that K recruits quality kids academically and representing the university in a positive way...
Some have been athletically gifted, some borderline... Opportunities have been presented numerous times with a stacked team...
