What if the Grizz get the Top Pick...
The Memphis Grizzlies are currently the worst team in the Western Conference at 8-20 (tied with DAL, but the Mavs have the H2H), making us the 3rd worst team in the league behind Atlanta and Chicago.

FiveThirtyEight projects this team to finish 28-54, which would be the 5th worst team in the league.

So, let's say that holds true...and let's assume we get lucky and get the #1 overall pick.

Who do you take? For the purposes of this exercise, let's assume we did NOT deal Marc Gasol at the trade deadline.

Good question, Hometown.

Problem with this draft is there aren't a lot of great shooting wings, which the Grizz need most. Of course, if they finish with 28 wins, they probably need everything.

I'm guessing the kid from Europe, Luka Doncic. But wouldn't be surprised if they take Bagley from Duke.

Quit crying.

Yep. Grizz have to get a top 5 pick this year. Any of the top picks are potential franchise changers.

Bagley, but you could make a case for any of the top 4 this year. Bamba would be of least need for the Grizz.

i dont think marc gets traded. jamychal or tyreke are more likely. with that being said, i dont think they trade anyone. i think they ride out the year, mike will probably be back around all star break. they will keep the grouping of mike marc jam and head into the draft with a miracle. they will have roughly 5 expiring contracts. i dont expect them to resign any of them. wright, evans, ennis, chalmers, no longer paying baldin, and we have a team option on harrison. you clear up about 11 million.

i disagree. i think bamba is a definite need for the grizz. provides depth at 4 and 5. some would think he would be an upgrade over DD. you already are uncertain if marc is being traded. also note, marc has a player option in 2019. are you confident hes coming back on his own accord?

Does give Grizz fans reason to watch more college hoops this year. This is a month old, so Porter will surely drop when nbadraft.net updates:

1. Michael Porter 6-10 215 SF Missouri Fr.
2. Marvin Bagley 6-11 235 PF Duke Fr.
3. DeAndre Ayton 7-0 260 C Arizona Fr.
4. Mohamed Bamba 7-0 220 C Texas Fr.
5. Luka Doncic 6-7 220 SG/SF Real Madrid 1999
6. Jaren Jackson Jr. 6-11 240 PF Michigan St. Fr.
7. Lonnie Walker 6-4 200 SG Miami Fr.
8. Wendell Carter 6-10 260 PF/C Duke Fr.
9. Robert Williams 6-9 240 PF/C Texas A&M So.
10. Collin Sexton 6-2 185 PG Alabama Fr.

What a low IQ MF'r.

But I can read a thread title. And I don't whine about personal attacks, and the call someone an MR'r 5 minutes later, unlike you.

Bagley or Ayton. Both of those are absolute studs. Prefer Bagley over Ayton just for positionality purposes

Why do you use MemphisTigers.org to talk about the Grizzlies? Go use VolNation.org or OhioStateBuckeyes.org. Either are as relevant to the Grizzlies as MemphisTigers.org is.

Because Bagley can play the 4 and 5? And Ayton the 5 only? Haven't seen either enough to know is why I'm asking.

Yeah more or less. Both are big dudes but Bagley is a little less "stiff" than Ayton if that makes sense. I like Bagley's jump shot/perimeter game more than Ayton's.

Give it till the end of Jan. If we are still where we are, you definitely trade Reke. You see what you can get for JAM. Play Conley, Gasol and CP VERY sparingly and TANK.

Trade Gasol if you can get a lottery pick. If not, keep him. This is a great draft if you get in the top 8. Any of the top 4 have a shot at being a franchise type player. Stack picks.

Next year, you come back with a healthy top 2 or 3 and a top 4 pick rookie

I hear you and it does. Don't watch Duke much cause I don't like Coach K, but guess I will this year.

Bet by the end of the year Collin Sexton and Trae Young are a lot higher on the draft boards. Ballhandlers and shooters are more valued in the NBA than bigs are now.

trade Conley because his body just isn't built for the long haul.

knowing the front office they'll make a play for one of the Lawson kids. Grizz drafting has been less than stellar in the past.

If I were the Grizz, I'd take Bagley in a heartbeat. He is a monster at Duke scoring more than 20 pts/10 rebounds a game and only a freshman.
