Bowen has said before that it's a good thing that we're finally in it, but it's not something that would be beneficial to the program to be in it very often. I agree, once every 10 years or so would be fun, but give the kids a chance to get their bowl experience out of town most years.

I believe right now Independence and Liberty have the American deal in place.

Independence and Music City would both be fun bowls for Memphis.

Matchup is Florida State vs. Southern Miss this year. Yikes. What a year by the Seminoles.

I wonder how many FSU fans will make the glorious trip to Shreveport to root on a coachless 6-6 team?

probably a lot...plus Shreveport/Bossier city is full of casinos (adults) and museums like Water Works and Discovery Center (for the kids). I'd love to see Memphis play in the Independence Bowl.

of course, that doesn't fit 'the miserables' narrative.

I'd go. Never been. I think the joke is on FSU.

Oh, I don't like that part of it. Especially for D-1a. That sounds like the perfect tool to ensure [insert Alabama-esque team here] never faces a "bad match-up".

Agreed...You get who you get just like in basketball. You shouldn't try to protect teams because upsets have happened.

This will be the first time that the Tigers do not lose money by going to a Bowl game.

Except Birmingham or Mobile...of course.

I'm just saying...leaving Florida to go on a 9+ hour drive to Shreveport on a Wedensday, two days after Christmas but 4 days before New Years after being to five NYD bowls in a row.

If they show, I'll be quite impressed.

Bet there aren't many direct flights from Tallahassee to Shreveport.

The AAC will probably not be able to improve their bowl tie-ins.

Bowls are all about fans traveling to town to see the game. As a conference, the AAC does not travel. Bowls would rather have the #6 team from the Big 10 or the SEC than to get the #2 team out of the AAC. It's all about the fans and their money.

Haha. Probably not, hence the 9+ hour drive.

Yup. And that is plainly evident with our home games when we look to the visitor's section and see 137 ECU fans or 43 people wearing SMU garb.

Louisville would always bring fans by the thousands and it's no surprise they are where they are now.
