Lou Holz was another.
Jack Lambert - a saban teammate - a third.

while neither seek a return to coaching @ KSU surely among the three most famous Kent players , they must have some recommendations.

Holtz got Kent State to hire one of his ND assistants, Pete Cordelli, in 1991, instead of another KSU alum Gary Pinkel, who was OC at Washington.

Cordelli went 3-30 in three years.

Pinkel got HC job at Toledo after Nick Saban left around the same time and was very successful there and later at Missouri.

They finally found a coach to take the job.

Syracuse OC Sean Lewis will be the new HC of the Golden Flashes

Isn't Lewis from the Chicago area?

Yup, from Oak Lawn.

He got his coaching start as the offensive coordinator for Richards High School in Illinois from 2007-09. Played at Wisconsin. Was on Baber’s staff at EIU and followed him to BG and Cuse

Hustle Belt had a brutal article calling for Kent State to kill the football program as an option to fix the program. https://www.hustlebelt.com/2017/12/18/16...conference

On a related note, I saw that Carl Pelini is getting hired by Bowling Green to coach their defense. Big name D coordinator and proven track record. I wonder if he was offered the Kent job.

Hopefully bo doesn't get another chance from a MAC team. . He would be tough to beat.

I was curious if I remembered this guy Joel Nielson, but I don't.

Kow cool is this:

Nielsen and his wife, Sharon (who was a scholarship golfer at Northern Illinois), have three daughters, twins Kasey and Kelly, and Kory, all of whom are members of the Kent State women’s golf team.
