Liberty Bowl Weather Thread
Way too far out but let’s get it started all you amateur meteorologists. Accuweather has cold with sunshine high of 41.

I predict the humidity will not be a factor.

Coldest Liberty Bowl game I remember was the 1983 game between Notre Dame and Boston College. I'm sure the exact records are online somewhere, but I think it was around 8 degrees at kickoff (maybe that was the wind chill but you get the point). People were lighting popcorn boxes on fire in the 4th quarter.

If it's sunny and 41, that is perfect Dec 30 weather and the stadium should be full.

My Dad and I left at halftime. A guy had passed out behind us and fell on me before sprawling out on the concrete. He might have turned into a beer popsicle for all I know.

The Liberty Bowl game the year before (?) with Navy was pretty cold, too.

Heat will not be a factor. Unless they put those heaters behind the benches.

I was at that game and it was the coldest game I have ever been to, hands down. I thought it was 18 degrees at kickoff, but what's the difference

As far as this year's LB, I see from an old Farmer's Almanac that it will be clear and 58 degrees at kickoff. So we will be fine. lol. 04-rock

Coldest Game I've ever attended. I believe the actual temp was 12 at kickoff. The seats were covered in ice from an ice storm a few days prior to the game. For some reason we stayed through halftime and left pretty much as the 3rd quarter began.

I think is was 1969, Alabama vs Colorado in the LB. It was so hot, I got sunburned. I think that was the game (its been a long time).
1975 LB, USC vs Texas A&M, my brother in law, who went to USC came to visit us and went to the game. All I can remember is he had to buy thermal underwear because it was so cold.

I remember being about 6 years old and going to a game that was freezing with my grandparents. It would've been about that time. I wonder if that was the game. Didn't we have a crazy snowstorm that winter as well?

Crazy weather games I remember more recently, the 2012 UTM game with the 100 ft Dave Brown on the scoreboard, this year's tropical storm game vs ULM, 2009 labor day weekend Sunday game vs Ole Miss that was a 12pm kickoff (it was haaawt), 1998 vs UT where it rained the ENTIRE day and we lost by a field goal at the end, Birmingham Bowl Debacle, and one that isn't as memorable for everyone else but 2013 we played SMU in October at the LB at an 11am kickoff. First game I ever took my older daughter to and she was about a year and a half old. It had been warm for weeks and a freak cold front rolled through that morning about the time we were headed to the LB, we about froze to death.

41 and sunny on 12/30? I'll take it.

I was expecting to need my Carhartt's for this one. Hell, I might wear 'em anyways. Gotta keep up stereotypes, and they make a great flask concealer.

How much to dome the Liberty Bowl? Would at least stop people complaining about the weather, and greatly increase attendance on rainy days (until people start complaining about lack of covered parking).

Edit: A retractable roof for the Denver Broncos would have cost $150 million. Come on guys... pony up the money.

not anymore- Annapolis and Yankee Stadium that I can think of right off hand

We went to LB a few years ago when Spurrier was coaching South Carolina and had seats about 8-10 rows behind their bench. It was pretty warm that day because I remember taking off a pullover and having only short sleeve t-shirt on during the game. The UCF/ Miss State LB was a cold one, too.

The '99 Liberty Bowl was pretty cold (Colorado St vs USM), that's the coldest I ever remember feeling; the 2004 was warm, I remember taking off my sweatshirt during the game (Louisville vs Boise St)

Alabama-UCLA 1976, Monday night game. If you remember back then the NFL schedule was only 14 games and the Liberty Bowl had the prime first Monday night after the NFL season ended. The game was well under freezing at kickoff. The UCLA players were all huddled under their coats and cold weather gear hopping around right before kickoff. Bear Bryant had Alabama take the field in short sleeves. Alabama won 36-6.
