Hall couldn't pass at all last time I watched. However, Santa wasn't accurate in practices either. I like the Childers and Harnish comparison and pray he makes that impressive of a jump next season.
Childers gets unfairly criticized because he got labeled as the "best fit for the offense". He's really not. Think about the 2 key aspects for a qb to succeed in this offense. Not just do OK, but to really succeed. It's make BIG plays with your feet and your arm. He can't do either. All of these short, sideways passes are to pull the defenses up closer to set up a deep pass or big run up the middle. He's not fast or elusive enough to make big runs. That will never change. And as of now his deep ball is garbage and really hurting the outside wrs and their role in the offense.
This doesn't mean he can't become very good at some point, its just that he won't be all that similar to Lynch or Harnish. Not really even Hare. He's going to have to become a much better passer who can occasionally scramble for a first down if needed.
Give him credit for this, he's got a really good feel for the game. Doesn't panic or make too many mistakes. So in that regard he's pretty far ahead of a lot of QBs at his stage. He just needs to gain accuracy. Quite a bit.
If you cannot throw a wide open bubble screen you are panicing or you are so hopeless as a passer that you should not be a starter.
Perhaps he can progress, I sure hope so.
He wasn't that bad in the short game. He had a completion rate this year of 57%. And thats with missing nearly all of his down field throws. Hare was only at 59% in his first full year. Harnish 55% his first full year. Grahams career is 53%. Even Haldi's career is 55%. I agree Childers should be up over 60% due to the simplified passing attack, but he's accurate enough at this stage of his development.
I'd rather get behind the 6'2" 220 3* from a hs football factory. Childers is a 6 foot, slow, below average passer, a Justin Fuente hand me down.
Hall is 6'1", 212. Childers 6'0" 216. Im no Childers fan. I spent the season lobbying for Santa. But from what I saw early on from Hall's passing, we would be better off going to the wishbone if he's the QB. So unless Jyran Mitchell is the answer(he's a .83 on 247 and he's never mentioned here), we have no true dual threat QB. And even though Hall looks electric when running, his passing looked un-playable. As of now, I'd take Childers with a chance of passing improvement and limited running over Halls great running and zero passing. But for sure, someone needs to step up or we will be sub par again at QB.

I think it is way too early to give up on Hall. If the talent and raw ability is there, the staff has plenty of time to work on his flaws. The same can be said of Childers. The one thing Childers now has that no other healthy QB on the roster has is experience. I would dare say that no NIU QB in its history will enter his sophomore season with more game experience than Childers. The investment has been made and hopefully it will pay off big time. As has been mentioned, we will be very thin at this position entering next year. If Hall is not in the plans, and Graham does not return, we need a JUCO QB, badly.
One last point on Santa, kind of cool that his last pass as a Huskie was a 70 yard TD.

I'd say let Childers and Thompson battle it out for the starting job and put Hall in the game to run the ball. That will give Hall time to get game experience and hone in on his passing skills. I still think we'll be in good shape with childers next year but it can't hurt if Hall can provide a spark with his running.

Yea, that was something. Another perfect deep throw.

Tuke better start winning some games. In his four years at SEMO, they are 15-30.
Last year they were 3-8 and lost to Kansas 38-16 for the Jayhawks only win.

I have been following coach Tuke's career and wishing for his success. However his record has not been good to date. I hope that Santa has great success there and helps them win a national championship!

From what I could see, SEMO was close in all their conference loses so it wouldn't be impossible to turn them around. I will admit that I haven't watched them play and don't know much about their program aside from Coach Tuke.

I had to Google tuke. A possible replacement if Kane gets a bigger gig? I do like the idea of bringing Alex kreutsch back on the staff as well. That was brought up in another thread. I'm sure we can offer more than the, what 40K, he's getting at west Florida?!

Don’t think he’s earned the right to be a Head Coach at this level yet. The coaches that have made the best transitions, have won a lot at the level they’re at.
