I don't feel like looking it up but surely the first accuser was more than 3 weeks ago (the 14 year old who still seems like the accuser who was most credible). If it was only 3 weeks ago, then we've just gone through the longest 3 weeks in history.

Ted Cruz is on the clock.

Anyone know if he was banned from the Woodlands Mall or First Colony Mall by any chance?

The jist of this is correct, but she killed herself because she was mentally ill. Sane people don't kill themselves because someone was unkind to them.

It will be interesting to see if all these Moore "accusers" drop off the face of the map now that the election is over. They did with Trump in 2016 (despite the recent resurgence) and with Herman Cain back in 2008.

2018 will be interesting election year... my guess is that every republican running will have sexual harassment accusers that come out. It may be the new Democrat tactic since they can't win on their non-existent platform and/or calling everyone a "racist" doesn't work anymore.

This is my fear. The rules of the game have changed and 40 year old accusations are enough to derail a campaign. Truth be told, democrats didn't ever have a chance of "winning" on any sort of platform in Alabama and they knew it. It's no different than the approach taken by some of the lefties in here, can't win the argument - attack the source.

Good, the folks of Alabama decided. Still not sure why all those idiots that don't even live in Alabama gave a rat's a$$ about this election; other than a chance to spout partisan crap.

that's XACLY! my point in the other thread (and just about every other post I've made)

it's why line 1b) precedes 1c) and there isn't a 1a)......

this was a bigger loss than most people are acknowledging......this is what the cons once called "the play"

the public got played like a Stradivarius yesterday....

well done donks.....

They had to drop every resource in the party and every last penny they could muster into this race and still won by just a few votes.

This can't be good for the left.

You know your party is in bad shape when Roy Freaking Moore is the best candidate you can put out there.

This can’t be good for the right.

If you choose to zoom in on one race in one state you may have a point, meanwhile the best national candidate the left could advance lost so as you say, that can't be good for the left.

There are 468 seats in Congress being decided. Assuming a Republican and Democrat running, there will be at least 936 people running for office. After the events of the last quarter of this year, there will be at least 936 people come forward with sexual allegations. Most of them will probably be true. And yes I realize some of the candidates will be women.

Yeah, I get all that; however, IMO, it should be up to the people of said state and them only deciding who represents them. All the noise/money coming in from out of state sucks in my opinion. I just laugh at the folks I know hootin' & hollering over this great victory, etc. I asked them how it changed their lives and they just look at me with a blank stare.

Yep. Alabama republicans have had their heads up their asses for a long time, and it finally caught up with them. The whole Alabama republican leadership needs to step down. For that matter, the national republican leadership needs to do the same.
The way to win an election is to accuse the opponent of being a child molester 3 weeks before the election. That's all this means.

Moore would have lost anyways with or without the accusations. He had issues with gays and minorities for a long time.

Are you high? Honestly.

RE: Democrat Doug Jones Wins Alabama Senate Seat In The Special Election
When you sit back and look at this election, it's obvious two things happened that cost Republicans a Senate seat in a reliably red state.

1. Roy Moore - his arcane views did not align with younger voters in Alabama. He lost by huge margins in Tuscaloosa (UofA) and Lee (AU) counties in counties that went for Trump in 2016. He saw support in suburban counties erode, as college educated women elected to either stay home or vote for Jones. Moore saw similar voting results in his last statewide race.

2. Donald Trump - the tremendous African American turnout in the black belt and urban areas was largely an answer to DJT. This was the first opportunity for many to have the opportunity to express their anger and they turned out in droves... something they did not do for Hillary.

It took both to give the Democrats a seat in a red state like Alabama but I t will not take both to win in purplish midwestern states. 2018 is looking very promising for Democrats.

Most accurate assessment I've seen yet. It wasn't "just" that Moore was a nightmare, and it wasn't "just" a rejection of Trump. It was both.

Younger voters & minorities are (hopefully) going to continue to remember the past two years both campaign & election-wise, and what happens when you don't participate.

Democrat Rules to Winning An Election:
1. Accuse the other nominee of being a child abuser without a single shed of evidence.
2. Repeat Step 1.

So, has any of the accusations been proven yet? Or will just be another example of a couple of months from now a small blurb will appear saying that Moore has been resolved of all allegations, etc.?

Have you seen the map of Roy Moore's last statewide race from 2013? It looks very similar to 2017.

Bredesen will be a very competent candidate for Democrats in 2018. He was a very popular mayor and governor and had a good run in the private sector.
