Agree. Good local players are our current best hope of getting good, nationally-competitive talent. I don’t see this changing any time soon.

The idea that a single source knows what's going on in the heads of every teenage basketball player with high major talent is hard to believe.

On the other hand, it doesn't take a source to see that NO players players with high major talent from anywhere want to come here.

They would sprint to campus to play for Penny.

He had a few. Shawne Williams, Jeremy Hunt, Pierre Niles, Andre Allen. I think the point is that Tubby isn’t replacing these players with anyone as talented. Cal took CDR over JP Prince. Anthony Rice over Earnest Shelton? Tyreke instead of Elliot Williams.

The Lawson situation is the cause. They carried a lot of weight with local players.

If anyone believes that the reason is "Tubby won't cheat" should not have a problem with Penny taking his place since Anfernee Hardaway got special presidential permission to attend Memphis State since he was totally unable academically to get in school and I am sure Anfernee's recruitment was on the up and up since he was recruited by and played for Larry Finch, who was recruited by and played for "clean" Gene Bartow. So, Penny, as coach, would be as squeaky clean of a program as we've ever had.

If Tubby recruited highly rated out-of-town players better than the best local players, then no issues exist. The problem is Tubby recruits neither.
