Alabama SC rules the state can destroy ballot images right after Tuesday's election
Alabama Republicans have been enabled by the US Supreme Court to close nearly 200 polling locations. On Monday night, they scored another legal victory when the state Supreme Court decided that election officials are not required to preserve digital ballot images from Tuesday’s election.

Looks like the fix is already in.

Not from the voters anyway but who is there to insure there is proof of votes if they are going to destroy evidence at midnight?

First part, pure bull-****. Last part I can agree with. What good is a 'paper-trail' if the trail is destroyed immediately?

I could be wrong. Is there a history of voter fraud in the state of Alabama?

If so, wouldn't this make it even more important that the papertrail stay in tact?

I'm not going to let you have it both ways or move the goal posts in the middle of the game. PICK ONE:

1) Voter fraud happens all over the country, and probably every single election cycle. So we need to maintain accountability for the votes and preserve them while still protecting the anonymous ballot. This means digital voting must use open source software. This means digital voting must be stored, hashed, and backed up. And every time the ballots move somewhere digitally the hash must be re-certified. Paper ballots must be maintained as well. And there should be a bipartisan and independent audit of the votes every single election.

2) Voter fraud never happens so let's not worry about it. Those who do worry about it are probably secretly racist.

Yes, I'm already aware that both parties run afoul of #1.

Houston County, Alabama. Woman convicted of 24 counts of absentee voter fraud. That took me about 30 seconds to find.

I'll pick Number 1 for $1000 Alex.

I never meant to say without a doubt that voter fraud never ever happens.

Why do you guys take everything so literally?

What I was getting at is that IMHO, I think fraud in elections is more prevalent from the political parties and not the voters themselves.

Politics is the circus through which law is rendered. And law is 100% literal and 100% consumed with the details. So being vague or sarcastic or speaking on multiple levels is neither helpful or amusing. Say what you mean and own up to it.

Fair enough.

Can you see however that when I said that the fraud was likely not from the voters, I didn't mean to say that voters never ever attempt to commit fraud?

I mean I have had this discussion on this forum multiple times and I have never ever made the claim that voter fraud from the voters never exists.

Except that's not what you said.

This is what you said
Quote:Not from the voters anyway

The two statements do not come close to one another.

Best to let the resident Spin Room troll amble back under the bridge. Interactions with him can only lead to annoyance and loss of one's precious time.
