Have you seen all the tweets from recruits with Dickey in the photo? The guy has been recruiting his ass off. Not saying we can't get somebody better, but it's not like he's been doing nothing, either.

Congratulations to @CoachDickey1 for accepting the OC job at Texas A&M! He’s one of the main reasons I came to Memphis and one of the best coaches that I’ve ever been around. Love You Man

-------------
The team MVP liked him. All i've ever heard is the players like him. Good luck to him in the future.

Coach Dickey will be missed. I am happy for him for his pay raise, a chance to go home to ATM, and a chance to coach with Jimbo. He is still young enough to land one last head coaching job, maybe even somewhere like UConn, or ECU. He is a well seasoned coach, and some team will be lucky to land him>

I wouldn't call A&M his home. He was a GA there for one year. He played at Kansas State. I know he was very fond of his days as the head coach of North Texas state. He was inducted into their Hall of Fame last month. Great guy. He will definitely be missed.

Jimbo is an offensive guy, was OC at LSU and Florida State. Still called the plays, and assume he will at A&M. But Jimbo was criticized for having an old, weak assistant coaching staff at Florida State, and now he hires a 58 year-old OC who won't be calling plays.

Maybe one of the reasons for hiring Dickey is that he worked well with Fuente, who called plays, and Norvell, who called plays. Maybe Fuente didn't call all of them, but there was at least an over-ride / alternate thing going on where he was involved.

Nah. Makes perfect sense.

Jimbo: I need an OC. Who's got the top offenses this year?

Stooge: Well, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ohio State, Memphis....

Jimbo: Memphis, huh. Is it a fluke or is there a record of it?

Stooge: Well, they've trended upwards for five straight seasons, same OC. Done it with multiple quarterbacks, too. Last guy they had is now with the Broncos.

Jimbo: Hazze got any ties to Texas?

Stooge: Well, says here he was head coach at UNT for a number of years, won their conference three straight times. They fired him because UNT is, well, stupid.

Jimbo: Does he know how to run the ball or is he another Mike Leach reject?

Stooge: Apparently he does - UNT had two different RB's lead the nation while he was coaching there.

Jimbo: Well, gitt'em on the phone and lets show him all the wonders of College Station!

Makes perfect sense.

Looks to me it is just throwing some of UofMemphis' tired, old, cliche, posts back at him.

I did not hire of fire anyone as Dickey left on his own and I simply tossed out the name of a former coach from the Fuente era to see if folks think he would be a good fit...Norvell will hire who he wants.
