&? My wife is, many friends are. I've been supporting the program/School my entire 17 years in NC and the 8 + years i lived in Wilmington. I would think you having a front row seat to what's been happening would make you even more pissed! I hope to see improvement shortly or it's going to be a tough go at it in conference.

Yes, and you're a bigger supporter than many alums here, and that's a very good thing. But you're still just a fan of the basketball team (and other sports too sometimes). Alums tie the entire school to their identities, so it's just....different.

I don't like losing. I complain about the Jets and Mets. But I don't complain in the same way about UNCW or its programs.

What I'm saying is, your approach to UNCW is coming to the table like it operates like a pro sports team. It's not, and I don't. Make sense?

Fair enough. But your approach as an alum is unique among alums too. I'd say folks that are as close as you are are the exception, not the rule. My wife has a close knit group of 20 or so friends from school and not a damn one of them know anything about any of the programs.

My apologies, i didn't mean to get personal i was really just being sarcastic. That doesn't pull through here very well.

My approach isn't unique, but my involvement in the programs definitely is. There are definitely tons of alums who don't care at all what's going on here. They got their piece of paper and moved on to another city.

Among the few alums who still live in Wilmington and support the teams, I think they kind of have my mentality. 33 is one who tends to lean optimistic/patient.

Plus, being close to the teams means I hear a lot of the viewpoints of people who work in athletics. And most of them are leaning optimistic about McGrath too. They tend to think he walked into a tough situation in terms of all the players who left.

That's absurd. YOU bring up Carolina more than I do, that is for certain. I'm not dismissing the concerns, but I'm not jumping ship after 7 SEVEN games. What had Bill Belichick, Coach K, Dean Smith...pick your coach, Wainwright, Brownell, proven after 7 games? McGrath is a KU grad...I'm not married to him because of he was an asst at UNC. During the search, if you'll recall, I was openly against Hubert Davis. My stance has nothing to do with Carolina.

I don’t really care where he came from honestly I wanted a guy that had HC experience, he didn’t. That said I was willing to suck it up and give him a chance and I HAVEN’t jumped ship but he hasn’t given me much reason to believe up until tonight

Enjoy your Ls, I for one don't like losing. Given you are a Jets, Mets, Knicks fan i suppose you are used to it. Especially when 25% of the way into the season we have as many losses as the entire previous year. Adjust, or continue to take lumps. Proof is in the W/L column, and the fact we have LITTLE progression at all. I'd love to be wrong, but my call on C.B out of the gate is looking more likely than not IMO

I agree with this now, just like I agreed from the moment I witnessed the first game.I stated after the Davidson debacle that it was going to be a long year and was chastised by many for simply being the "newbie" here. These kids are accustomed to a passionate, tough love coach...That is not what we have here now.Im not saying he cant get it done in the long haul with his type of players although I still have my opinion.I also hope and pray this doesnt get even uglier if the losses continue to pile up.

You’re partially correct about the “newbie” thing. This is in no way meant to slight you, so please don’t take it that way; however, most of us have been around long enough to see a bunch of “newbies” come and go. The difference between the ones that stay and the ones that go are typically a tale told in WHEN they post. Usually the ones that don’t stick around are the negative types that only post AFTER a game. Usually that game is a loss. They attack the coach, AD, etc because they didn’t come as teal bleeding fans. They came with an agenda. Occasionally we get it wrong and once the poster pays some dues here and there and proves themselves they hang out and stick around. We’d love for you to be in that group. Just don’t be surprised if we’re a little skeptical with a few new posters right now who don’t post much outside of negative, “coach hating” style. Don’t be that person.
