All depends on your outlook, I suppose.

We could very well get blown out in our next two games (both very good opponents). At best, we can hope to split the next two.

But as of right now... we're sitting at 6-2. We've been a lot worse, record-wise, than this in my lifetime.

I appreciate the optimism. But we had our best performance of the year against a team with three D1 players on it.

No doubt we have had a lot worse records, but I can easily say, at this point, this is the worst basketball team I have seen in my lifetime playing for Memphis.

Get back to me after the Louisville game...

Has he done a poor job relating to the fanbase? Quite possibly. Has he done a poor job inspiring confidence? Quite possibly. Has he done a poor job recruiting and maintaining relationships with players? Most of us would say yes.

But I feel like we (as a fanbase) may have a tendency to overreact.

He is still living off his career at UK. Where he won a NC using another coaches players. The team he won with had been in the finals three out of four years and won two titles..

He has yet to finish about .500 in conference since leaving UK and i believe 4th or maybe even 5th was his best finishing position in conference since leaving UK.

His class ranked 45th this past year and that was his BEST recruiting class in 6 years.

He got the benefit of being in P5 conferences and used that to get a few NCAA invites. His same resume in a non P5 school would have not gotten him an invite especially after the NCAA bought the NIT.

Not entirely true but yeah he hasn't been good in a while.

To state the obvious, we are 6-2 (and should be 5-3) against a schedule that at worst we should be 7-1 (and probably 8-0) without breaking a sweat.

We have treated the competition in a buy schedule like we have been playing teams ESPN organized early season tournament.

We are overrating to a lack of quality players and the worst recruiting for a Memphis team since long before Bartow?

Our 2017-18 schedule will make our years in the CUSA south look like we were playing in the ACC/B1G challenge every night.

Tubby isn't literally a Hall-of-Famer, yet. He is old, he isn't recruiting at a high level, and this year's team might be his peak. How are the warning signs an overreaction?

It took too many fans to see the downward slope for Pastner. Tubby won't ever get us up the hill. He's just over the hill.

We have not beaten good teams. We've gotten blown out by decent teams. We've almost lost to very bad teams.

But on the flipside, with so many new pieces, I've always felt that we wouldn't really see this team until January.

If we still look just as awful in conference play, then I'll accept that we really are the worst I've seen.

One of the worst I've seen wasn't that long ago, had a bunch of 4-stars on it, and had less to do with talent and more to do with apathy toward the team and university they played for. This one hasn't gotten to that point, yet. Maybe they will, but they haven't yet.
